Sweden uncovers 3,700 false positives from COVID-19 test kit.

About 3,700 people in Sweden were told in error that they had the coronavirus due to a fault in a COVID-19 testing kit from China, the Public Health Agency said on Tuesday.

The kit from BGI Genomics could not distinguish between very low levels of the virus and a negative result, the agency said.

“The supplier must adjust the performance that is required for this test to be used,” Karin Tegmark Wisell, the head of its microbiology department, said.

The test kit has been widely exported to other countries, she added, but could not give further details.

BGI Genomics, two of whose subsidiaries are on a U.S. economic blacklist of companies implicated in human rights violations regarding China’s treatment of Uighurs, could not immediately be reached for comment.

I wonder.......................? Day seven of waiting for results. At this rate, if, an enourmous big if, they are positive at this rate we could have been ill and recovered and could have gone on and infected 100's of others. Self isolate for ten days? only 3 days left to go. Although a week after the required 14 days self isolation anyway.

A big thumbs down for their "world beating" testing service.

Not even any phone calls to trace who we have been in close contact with either, whatever that means, but by inference, they must be negative results?

The silence from them is deafening.

A friend of mine has had 2 tests in UK within a couple of months of each other. Both tests have shown a negative result, however all the symptoms she has are exactly the same as the symptoms I had when I was diagnosed in March. The 2nd test she had to wait 4 days for the actual test, they were out of stock, then it took longer than the promised 36 hours for the result, she waited another 4 days for the result. She lives in London & was able to trace the test's journey. It was tested in Glasgow. I myself have 'long covid' still many health problems months later. I do think there is a lot of confusion going on at the moment because this is a fairly new virus, so we are told.

I am still suffering the effects 4 months later, although maybe not as bad as some, I am at least with coping it.

Hard to 'like' your response as you are still suffering. I am 5 months on and still not 100% & still have the terrible cough on top of several kidney infections etc. I can't see me returning to work anytime soon although I was asked to a few months ago, but I expect to be laid off anyway. I hope you are improving day by day and feel much better soon. xx

Thank you, I hope you improve soon as well. Breathing, fatigue and back pain, in that order are my issues. I do not have to worry about working, although I do miss it terribly and wish I was still working, even part time would be nice.

The nagging feeling i have, all the time i read yet another person who has to wait and wait for results and the amounts of folk who did a neg AND a pos test several days later , or the unconclusive test results and I'm not left feeling like this is just more ridiculous than entering the lottery and really believing you'll win!!! Why cant this test, trace and track system work? Have we any other countries who've been able to have a secure way of obtaining 100%(ok that's just being naive) accurate test results? Oh ,as each day goes on, I feel less the need to venture outside my garden and flat and eventually I'll be too worried to venture out!!😖 . 🐿🌈
