Good news and terrible news. Firstly, there's no cancer. What there is is biapical lung scarring and tiny blebs. So looking like PF. I am waiting for a pulmonologist to call me but I'm just in complete shock I don't know why or how, I am only 29. Some Christmas this is turning out to be.

Hi J this must be a very worrying time for you, hopefully the consultant will have better news when he calls. x

Before you see the pulmonologist I would sit down and have a think about what questions you want to ask and write them down. Obviously you have had some worrying news and like most people will probably get out of the consultation and think why didn't I ask that question.

Who diagnosed you? It seems strange to me that they did so without definite pulmonary appointment.

My GP read the radiologists report on the CT scan that said I have biapical scarring and tiny blebs, and that I have been referred for a respiratory opinion, so I phoned the 2ww team to find out what was going on. Apparently my case will be raised at the MDT meeting next week then someone will be in touch either to make an appointment with the pulmo or to talk me through exactly what they found.

Hoping you will get more of the answers you need after the meeting next week, and a clearer treatment plan.

lung scarring is very common, any chest infection can cause it and over the years it builds up. My consultant told me don’t assume anything until we have completed other tests. I had a broncoscopy and biopsy which diagnosed Aspergillosis and emphysema a few years back. I had my annual checkup last month and the lung scarring is still there but it has been the same for the last 10 years
