Get signed off. You need the time to get better and if you go back you will only end up going off sick which will cause your workplace more disruption than if you stay off in the first place.

As CDPO16 says, please take the time off that you need to get well. You need to take care of you. Hoping you feel better soon and the saline is of some help. Xxx🥰

Your health must come first. Work can wait because without health you are unable to work. Give yourself time to heal for your own future benefit please. Hope you improve soon.

Forget work.u can't go in with mucous and exxpectorating.fo cus on getting right.do u do acbt and postural drainage? Saline will loosen it prior to yr dedicated sessions.im midstream infective inflammatory exacerbation with complications.we just got to do what's necessary to get through

I know there is always pressure to go back to work, but what use will you be if you do go back? Please take time to get yourself better. xxx

You'll recover more quickly with rest interspersed with gentle exercise than you will by going to work. Take the time off if you possibly can.

If you absolutely have to go to work, please be kind to yourself when you get back home. Eat ready meals. Put your feet up. Veg out in front of the TV.

There's time to rush around later when you're better.

Please Julie, as has been said before, you must take time off work to manage this nasty episode which you will get through. 🙂 You need time for your body to rest and repair. Even thinking about work is making you feel anxious 😟 and stressed.. you have to concentrate on getting yourself better, nothing else!

Just to let you know, my hubby does not cope well with me being unwell. SO I have a neighbour/friend who helps me when I'm not good. Just to know she's their for me is a great comfort and reassurance.

Look after YOU pet. Best wishes. Dawn.xx

After speaking with the home recovery team they are concerned I'm not making a recovery & it appears the issue is getting the phlegm up & out nothing seems to be working, they have me on 2 different nebuliser solutions & saline, antibiotics & steroids but I'm still very wheezy & short of breath. They said yesterday the next step (if no improvement) is hospital. I was due back to work Thursday but will defo NOT be going, I'm taking the next few weeks off as i need to stop worrying about it & just do it. I feel less stressed knowing I've made a decision as i would normally of tried to go back .

Good.got to be realistic.just keep on with dedicated lung clearance sessions.ive episodes of " drowning" past 2wks whilst ill,and whenever have exacerbation.which is yr usual technique? It's early days if u only started thurs.(have u done a covid test?).rest, clearance, fluids, meds & repeat.do u take carbocysteine

negative for covid & the nurses have requested carbocysteine for me, i usually use the cough exercise & i have a flute device but none sees to be helping. I could not get my saline as when hubby went to collect it they were shut even thought the chemist should of been open between 4-6pm it was not & its not open at all today so will have to w as it till tomorrow

I am concerned that you are not having the correct specialist management of your bronchiectasis. This team are doing all the right things to help move mucus under normal circumstances but it seems to me that there is spmething more serious going on and they are not qualified or experienced enough to deal with it. All of this is quite useless if the problem of bacteria in the lungs ( exacerbation) is not being dealt with properly. As you feel that you have been deteriorating for some time it sounds to me that you have not been given the correct antibiotics in the correct dose for long enough to efficiently deal with the bacteria in there for a long time. Do you have a bronchiectasis specialist? GPs and many general respiratory consultants do not know enough about bronch to deal with its complexities. Nurses certainly don't. They are used to dealing with copd which is very different. If you do have a bronch consultant ring their secretary for advice. If not you need to be finding one as soon as you are able.As for how you feel now. It is possible for a bronch patient to be unable to cough out any mucus because they have developed pneumonia. This happened to me in 2015 and my GP missed it 4 times even though I had an xray. In the end I took myself to A&E at the QE in Bham and sat there until I saw my consultant.

Unfortunately, unless you can get proper antibiotic therapy now, it may mean that you do need to go to hospital to check that you do not have pneumonia and to be seen ( hopefully) by an efficient respiratory consultant.

It's worth reading up on postural drainage and also percussion techniques.it all helps.its so hard having to use energy we dont really have to spare.once u get the saline,it should help to loosen it so u can get it out.carbocysteine will help to thin it for you too.makes it that bit " easier" to get it up.i use salbutamol neb b4 my saline so airways r dilated, which helps too.i think its like having a dog growling across chest.im amazed nurses havent accessed yr meds4u.supermarkets have b open today,if yrs has a pharmacy.btw have u seen a respiratory physio re lung clearance? If not,or if u need their input with techniques,do get a referral.get well soon xxxxx

am wondering if my prescribed effervescent drink Nacsys would help you, it shifts my mucous. Lot of coughing but better than infections.
