I’m so pleased I found this site and you all have been so helpful. I’m still currently in hospital, had plenty of IV antibiotics are carbosteine through IV fluid on lungs and heart is still there but thankfully it’s not congestive heart disease, it’s what they believe a connection tissue disease so it’s a referral to a rheumatologist. I’m now on oral antibiotics and carbosteine so I’m really hoping I can go home now and just wait for this appointment which probably will be a while, in the meantime here’s hoping we all stay infection free . Thanks everyone.

I was in hospital due to fluid on the lungs and heart also a lung infection as I have bronchiastasis but after more tests, scans etc the cause wasn’t congestive heart failure
Hi, the diuretics didn’t shift it and they only managed a sample so drainage was a no no, so it’s now for the rheumatologist to treat the underlying cause and get rid of the fluid that way.
Out of my depth here - I have never needed a "rheumatologist" - Diuretics and Oxytet worked for me but the cause was Cardio/respiratory. I wish you weii.
Yes because although I was admitted with plural effusion and infection, after fluid was tested it wasn’t congestive heart failure causing fluid around lungs and heart so they are in agreement it has to be a connection tissue disease.
It was so lovely, I got a few hours as still struggling with a comfy position but I’m sure I’ll get there, it’s just nice having your own comforts around you and your husband. I can’t fault the hospital staff, they were all lovely.
Nothing can beat that first shower at home and clean pj's, can it?!Glad you're back home and sending best wishes for a good recovery, now that they've identified the problem.
I will, just waiting for rheumatologist but they said it shouldn’t be long as they fast tracked me? I couldn’t fault the staff, in fact some of them already know me so it was nice seeing familiar faces.
It's a great site, isn't it. I've learnt so much since I joined in 2015.
So glad to hear you're now back home. It makes such a difference, being in your own place instead of the hospital regime. Hope you continue to make strides in your recovery now the doctors understand what's going on.
This is a lovely site, and people are very good at offering advice from their own experience. I sympathise with you being in hospital. I’ve just been discharged after a 10 week stint - not lung or RA related. I hope you escape soon.
Hi, glad to hear things are improving , keep us posted on when your home & good luck for appointment with rheumatologist & fingers crossed 🤞🏻 it’s not too long away 💐🌹🌷xx
