so I have posted the same before, I have emphysema and copd. I have had a cold for 3 weeks, it will not go, I haven’t been out, I have stayed home warm, rested and fluids etc. I take multiple vitamins, eat healthy etc, the cold won’t go. Spoke to doc and nurse, they just say it can go on for a long time and to do the above, but it makes me miserable, I have had to let 2 people down as I feel so ill, you start to think that everyone hates you as they don’t understand that your immune system is low. I really can not stand having this anymore, tonight I have a high temperature again, it won’t go and I’m doing everything to try and get better, the nurse and doc just say it can go on for more than 3 weeks, but I just don’t know how and when I will feel better, I know that there are people worse off than me but tonight I’m just fed up!
feeling very doen: so I have posted the... - Lung Conditions C...
feeling very doen
Emphysema comes under the COPD umbrella like chronic bronchitis and some asthmas. If you caught a cold then you may have a chest infection. Your doctor needs to listen to your chest and check your breathing. Antibiotics could clear the infection along with steroids perhaps so ask for a rescue pack as it sounds like you need one. Feel better soon xxx
Hi Winterwalker01
it’s understandable u are fed up.
(1) your are not well
(2) u have less energy than before.
(3) even though the medication is working, as yet it hasn’t taken physical effect.
It will take time.
I know this is difficult.
Try looking back how u felt before u saw the doctor, and in a few more days, u may realise - -
____ I can at least do more than I did then.____
Believe me u are not letting your friends down, they want u to get better asap.
Keep your heart up.
One day u will wake up with energy, feeling your old self. (Well not old😂🤣 young self).
Best wishes and good happy vibes.

Sorry to hear you are going through a tough time.Everybody reacts differently to bugs and viruses. You have to do what you thinks is best for you. Not everybody understands the lengths people with certain health conditions go to to keep themselves as healthy as possible. Even though it can be difficult sometimes we need to put our own needs first.
Maybe another visit to your Gp to confirm that it is a cold and not a chest infection or speak to the pharmacist who might be able to help.
Jo winter walker. Sorry to hear you’re not well. My husband who doesn’t have chest problems has had this nasty cold bug for over 3 weeks. Maybe ggo back to the doctor and have your chest listened to and have a chat about how you are. Take care. Xx
Please don't be so hard on yourself. You've got to look after yourself x
thanks everyone, this morning my chest have a heavy chest so going to call the doctor, I appreciate everyone’s kind comments x
I always believe there are people worse off than me but it still doesn’t stop us from feeling fed up from time to time. When an infection drags on it can seem forever but your body needs time to recover and some infections are super bugs which take longer. I’ve been stuck in and I’ll for a while so I do understand and I only have solitaire and the odd crime drama to keep me going but I know one day I will be better and some days are worse than others so I enjoy the better days.
Take care
Wendy x
I know how miserable it can be feeling rubbish and on your own, but it doesn't last forever, promise 😘
Great advice/comforting words from all the lovely, understanding people here (as always!).
Peege is so right, don't be fobbed off, get the doctor to listen to your chest, it does sound as though you may need some antibiotics.
I really hope you feel better very soon, thinking of you xx
I empathize with you if really gets you down. Sending you guys & love
I know its being a difficult time for you and its not easy when you want to do things but the main thing is try to be patient and try not to let it get you down I was like that a good few years ago the docter said you're just unlucky to get cold after cold take care
I hope things will take an upturn soon. xxx
Join the club I am on my 4th lot of antibiotics can't shift this infection. .oxygen nurse was supposed to come Monday for assessment. 4 of my Respiratory team off sick so he cancelled. I am breathless but told not to use oxygen too much or could cause a bigger problem. Liam oxygen nurse coming tomortiw cant wait. . Having yet more blood tests next Monday hoping I get there as the last time 2 weeks ago was a nightmare just getting to the car let alone the walk to surgery.
I have been housebound since I came out of hospital in September. As most of you know this is not me. I am normally out and about dressed up on my shopping trips. Spent the last few months in Pyjamas. Managed to shop online but not my usual purchases but some lovely new Sets of Pyjamas.
Praying I will be well as Xmas so near.
Hope you feel better soon. Hang in there. Sending love 💕xx.Sheila 🙏
Sorry to hear you are feeling unwell. I have COPD and understand how you feel. From my experience you really ought to see a Doctor or a community Respiratory nurse. Rescue pack is ok and I use when necessary. However, you now have a high temperature. You really need to see a Doctor. I have a low immune system and I have twice been admitted to the CCU and the Medical Admissions emergency with a UTI. There is a possibility of Sepsis. Play safe. Get seen now.
Could it have caused chest infection? In Yr position,I'd b taking my rescue antibiotics.be kind to yrself, gey comfy,tv on,helps us to switch off frm feeling awful xx
