I was on Seratide for over 10 years and no problems , at Christmas 2017 I was taken to hospital with pneumonia, while in there I was taken off Seratide and prescribed fluticasone , I have asthma and bronchiectasis, I also take Spireva ,and ventalin and montelukast, I have always had a productive cough when I’ve got a chest infection, but since pneumonia it’s been continuous productive cough and breathlessness , could it be that the new Fluticasone doesn’t suit me ,I’m exhausted with all this coughing and the amount of mucus , so much so I’m restricting going out in company ,

Is Fluticasone causing me this productive cough
Hi Nanny. Seretide contains fluticasone, but at a low dose. Perhaps your drs wanted to increase the amount of fluticasone you take (this being a steroid) in order to treat inflammation in your lungs. So they have to give it separately. I'm on it separately too, but also take serevent, the long-acting bronchodilator (which is the other ingredient in seretide.) You could ask a pharmacist whether the fluticasone could be causing your problems, but I'd say it's more likely to be the after-effects of pneumonia.
Re medicines, I don't know - but I've had pneumonia often and every time I was short of breath and fatigued for months after. Full recovery always took around 6 months. Take care!
I agree with Robin. I have had Pheumonia 5 times over the last 3 years. And caughing with mucus for months later. Takes quite some time to get rid of the caughing and mucus.
Thanks everyone for your replies , I can’t remember having this productive cough for so long after pneumonia, which like others have had it a couple of times over the years , looks like I’m a bit impatient with my recovery , thanks again ,
I think it all depends which bacteria caused the pneumonia. Some have a fairly mild effect, some take months. Of course, the time of year doesn't help either, this intense cold is really irritating to the lungs. I hope you feel better soon but take care, slowly does it x
Thanks everyone for your replies and advise ,2weeks on and symptoms still the same I’m afraid x,
