A group of friends were asking me about my lung condition on Sunday and one of them said that bronchiectasis sounded like a dinosaur. Since then I've been picturing the Bronchiectasaurus as a fat herbivore lurking in the bushes, trying to avoid the T. Rexes. Its friends are the Measleosaurus and the Whooping Pterosaur. πŸ¦•πŸ¦– 😊xxx

Haha very good Chris. Did you mind though? It reminds me of when asked by a best friend why I was too tired to do anything anymore. I was explaining what CFS is (only because she asked) and how the mitochondria don't work properly, under her breath she said "hyperchondria more like". It still rankles when I think about it as I try quite hard to stay upbeat (pretend to at times) & not moan about my health because unless people experience something it's normal that they don't get it, even grief.

Ooooh P, I’m feeling rankled too now. Some people can be a tad insensitive. XxxπŸ©·πŸ’™πŸ˜

I didn't mind at all. The people I was with were friendly and genuinely interested in my condition. We just have to keep plugging away at educating people. I like to think I would have given your friend an earful.xxx

Grr 😑wish people could understand (or at least accept) how we feel. Walked with a friend and pushed myself too hard by going too far and felt on the verge of collapse. On the way back arrived at her gate and she said come in and sit in the garden and have a rest. I live in the next road. Just needed to get home, sit in the cool and recover in my own way so I declined (very politely). She didn't understand and took it personally. She is a good friend but fit as a fiddle and hasn't got a clue as to how we struggle. xxx

Oh gawd! I wish someone would do a telly series- the COPD Detective? People seem to get things into their heads much more easily when they've seen it on the telly. Years ago a few of us were trying to get asbestos banned/ removed from schools. No-one took us seriously until it was on the telly.

Good idea πŸ™‚πŸ‘. Maybe they should have a story line on one of the soap operas about someone with lung problems. xxx

Apologies for only picking up on your reply now. That is sooo maddening. I hope she is no longer your β€˜best’ friend. She doesn’t deserve it. We should lose those who don’t support us. Life is too short to have to cope with such insensitive idiots.

Lots of love

I wonder if the Bronchiectasaurus ever met the Anne ,Charlotte or Emily Brontesaurus. Though i believe they were mainly found on windswept moors.

We shall all rise to sing in chorus

Of the bronchiectasaurus,

How it bothers us and floors us

Can anyone restore us?

I envisage the bronchiectasaurus as a harmless, rather gormless creature. Its descendants have evolved into something much smaller and troublesome. xxx
