Treated myself to new iPad, Birthday present today. Old ones don’t last forever!

Have had different few weeks, in mid June went to Suffolk for 5 days with my younger daughter. Rented nice cottage. One reason for going was to look for 400 year old barn that was owned by friend from whom we bought Jag when he was diagnosed with motor neurone disease. He had bought barn, and restored it to lovely home. Both he and wife died within 18 months, and nether son had decided what to do with it. I had tried unsuccessfully to contact them, had known them since toddlers!

We found barn was now owned by nice couple, they invited us in, showed us all round, it’s much as I remember it, with few extensions.

We continued exploring, going back to places I remembered plus others. Weather was great, although bit windy day we went on Southwold pier. It was happy memories. Picture above is castle at Woodbridge. Jean x

lovely place. i dint know it had its ow I once stayed at the hotel called the castle. was that at woodbridge or somewh ere else nearby.

have checked it out now . it was at Orford nearby and the Crown and Castle .

had to laugh we got the bridal suite ! Oh dear,. frills and flounces

i am so glad you had a good time there. did you have good weather too . it has gone wet and cold now here. My memory is suffering now and it was a long time ago, over 50 years ago. we toured around and had a lovely time for two/ three days going to places that had only been names before. I remember that scuplture on the beach in the area that created a lot of controversey but cannot remember why. it was by a sculptress called Maggie something .

Suffolk, how lovely! I used to live in Framingham so knew Woodbridge very well. Such a beautiful county, I loved it. So pleased you had a nice few days.

Hi Jean and welcome back, belated birthday wishes and great that you treated yourself to a new ipad. Looks like you had a good holiday. I had a friend that moved to Sudbury in Suffolk years ago and they loved it there x

yes I’ve been to Sudbury, nice, as are most places in Suffolk. We regularly visited our friends and accompanied them around county. When they came to us we took them to different places, Ludlow, long Mynd, Stratford on Avon, Coventry, Chatsworth. Happy Days x

coventry ? that stands out from among the others. I lived there for a few yearsin a flat in what was the ywca in the middle of town , now student accomodation. very convenient but not much else besides the cathedral and one old house alongside . that Piper window was wonderful when the sun shone through it

coventry was bombed a lot and they actually moved any interesting old building together altogether in one location but never went to see that. Too little spare time then.

Yes interesting part of Coventry is remains of old Cathedral and new Cathedral opposite it, and few old buildings near by. I remember the night Coventry was heavily bombed, and as I lived on Coventry side of Birmingham planes coming over still with bombs dropped them on us. I went to bed every night in air raid shelter dug into clay soil garden. A bomb fell near and shook shelter and little shelf feel on me and broke my nose, pushed to right and flattened it. Few days later Dr used his thumbs to move it back bit. To add to problem seven years later playing cricket ball hit me in same place, and had bleeding again. I’ve asked NHS to restructure it, but always refused to even look at it, and even now I’m 88 would still like it to get some attention.x

Beware Apple. I have an I pad which I haven't used for some time (being housebound now) . When I did try to open it to synchronise with a desktop, it has been ' locked for security reasons' and I just can't get into it.
