Sorry to hear you are still feeling unwell and the Antibiotics are not working. I had a problem with Antibiotics not working once for an infection and because it was damaging my kidneys I took myself off to A and E and was kept in for 5 days on a drip that sorted the problem out. Hope you feel better soon. Brian
Sounds awful Dion50 perhaps take aleaf out of Brians book and get yourself to A & E . I do hope you feel better soon x
Have the docs tested your sputum to ensure you’re on the right antibiotics? My respiratory doc has already mentioned getting me some more ivs as I’ve had three infections in six months. Perhaps you could mention to your doc that’s the only thing that’s worked in the past. Good luck it’s awful when you have so many infections.
Do you know the name of the bug that is causing your infection? I had one called Staphylloccus Aureus, (the SA bit in MRSA), from March til November 2014, which oral AB did not knock out. Eventually I had a CT scan which showed I had bi-basal bronchiectasis, and an intravenous AB got rid. I believe that long exposure to that bug caused the bronch. After many many chest infections, we found Black Mould in our bathroom, and since eradicating that, no more chest infections.
Thanks for your reply mine is the same bug ,iv had it before a few times but I have a different specialist now and although I'm pretty sure I need iv as previously this has worked he seems reluctant ,I also have a xray tomorrow .
Best wishes. I hope the doc will start to listen to you.
Hope you’re feeling better soon x
Thank-you all for your replies I won't be leaving it iv got a chest xray this morning then I'm gonna get in touch with my respiratory nurse x
Antibiotics will only work on bacterial infections, if the infection is viral or fungal you need different treatment, my GP and consultant won’t prescribe me anything until a blood or sputum sample has been analysed.
