Hi, Iv got a pain in my chest on the left side, under my boob, every time I cough it really hurts, I know it may sound silly but I’m worried it’s my heart, I feel well in myself apart from a cough

If you have a chest infection it can make either side of the chest feel very tender. I would go to your dr if your worried, they could arrange for a chest x Ray. Do you ever get heartburn as chest infections usually make that even worse if your prone to it anyway.

Might be wise if still there in the morning to ring your GP and ask for emergency appointment. It could be nothing or maybe a pulled muscle with coughing a lot. You don't say if you have any other ailments like copd etc. Or it could be a chest infection.take carr

I’d get an emergency appointment to see if you haven’t got a chest infection or a touch of pleurisy..any breathlessness or temperature, go to A&E if you can’t get to your GP.

Take care of yourself.

Yes, get your GP to check it - it will probably just be stretched intercostal muscles (the tiny ones holding your ribs together) like my GP found in me, so no need to be too worried, just make sure.

I agree about getting a checkup, but if it helps to ease your concern a bit, I used to cough an awful lot and would often get pulled muscles in my chest, very scary.

I get a terrible feeling of phlegm in my throat and have to work very hard now not to cough hard but to just do a gentle houghing kind of action, ( it's really quite hard to explain, ) but it's actually more effective at moving mucus.

Hope you feel better soon.👍

he Huff Coughing Technique:

Sit up straight with chin tilted slightly up and mouth open.

Take a slow deep breath to fill lungs about three quarters full.

Hold breath for two or three seconds.

Exhale forcefully, but slowly, in a continuous exhalation to move mucus from the smaller to the larger airways.

It could be costochondritus. I went to A&E 3 years ago thinking I had heart trouble and this was dx. X
