On Monday I will be having my right knee replacement after having it cancelled twice do to back issues. Went to physical therapy for my back and I can say it helped immensely ! Now onward to getting my knee surgery. I have to say that I am somewhat scared and anxious but need this done so I can live a active life!! My husband is very supportive and loving so I know with his help that I will bounce back quickly. So.... onward and I will write soon to let you know how I am!!🙏🏻

I understand your anxiety but I'm sure you've heard lots of people say it's the best thing they've ever done, my mom included. She says once the surgery pain receded it was marvellous. She's 88 and still getting out and about. I do know the pre and post op physio is absolutely important though. My daughter had a hip replacement during covid with very little physio so could be even better than she is. Good luck! 💐

Hope all goes well. I have known several people have this surgery and key to a quick and good recovery is to follow physio instructions even though initially it may leave you a bit sore. All the best.

Sally my wife had partial knee replacement 3 months ago and is so much better. Her movements and most important the pain has gone. She is looking forward to the second knee being done.BUT be warned the pain after the operation is intense. Take any pain killers offered and use anything like ice packs. It won't last forever but at 2am most nights immediately after the operation my wife wanted her leg chopped off! You must religiously all the physio and excercises

But it will make you life so wonderful

Good luck!! I know someone who had both knees done a month apart and he is happy and doing incredibly well. Changed his life, and now he's back walking his dog 😉

hi solily, I had my knee replacement on the 13th of this month after being cancelled twice due to the anti fibrotic drug I need to take.

As you say, you will need lots of love and support to get you through it.

I found the first ten days are the worse, having clips out tomorrow and start proper physio on Tuesday ..

Best wishes Deborah

Good luck for tomorrow Solily. I am sure this time next month you will thinking thank goodness I had it done. Just keep with the physio and you will be fine. Everybody is scared before an op but you will be fine and have hubby to help x

All the best for tomorrow, My knee replacement took away the pain, so it was well worth going through it. As already said, make sure you do all the physio afterwards to get the best benefits.

I wish you well with your knee replacement surgery on Monday. As Mike57 says, the pain afterwards can be intense, however, you'll get through. Don't be anxious about the procedure, which ever type of anaesthetic has been chosen for you, you'll not know much about anything. I wish you well and a speedy recovery 🙏 ♥.

Don't worry I've had one done 3 years ago and I honestly can say it's well worth it

Hi Solily,

Lets hope this is a case of 3rd time lucky, every best wish for Monday and hope your recovery goes well. It's usually tough the first two weeks but you have your husband to help.

I had both my knees replaced, ten years ago and eight years ago respectively. Best thing I’ve done. Can’t take painkillers, so after a small dose of morphine in hospital, only anti inflammatories. Started physio the day after in hospital. Two weeks after was driving to physio and walking with one stick. You have to keep up physio though. Sitting and swinging your leg is the best way to get the flexibility back a nurse told me, so did this every day, plus others. Pain wasn’t too bad, kept moving. Good luck, you won’t look back.

I was anxious before my Achilles operation mainly because it was my first operation. I know a few people who’ve had new knees and after the initial soreness and physio they were great. It’s a must to do those exercises I could do with two new knees. Suffering at the moment but I’m no where near at the point of getting one Good luck with it all and we look forward to hearing how your recovery goes xx

my brother-in-law had his one knee down in March and is having the other one done in July. There is a bit of recovery and then physiotherapy but he is not hesitating to have the other one done so the first one in March didn’t deter him from having the other one done.

Good luck and hope and pray all goes well.

I hope all goes well today. I was going to write take it easy, but that doesn't sound like you. I know you will be doing all you can to keep your back in good order, as well as doing all the exercises required to help the knee. Bounce back gently and let us know how you're getting on. xxxx
