Flippin ' marvellous, exquisite production of Dancing at Lughnasa at The National! Easy trip too - one train and one tube. (Each way) One of those flawless productions and perfect days.

Oh we did. Bittersweet though as I was in it 20 years ago and I did a joyous, abandoned dance in wellies. Now I can't climb the stairs, with or without wellies! 🙂

Sounds wonderful. One of my favourite plays. So glad you could make it.

It was wonderful. It's such an atmospheric, evocative play. Their production seemed more meloncholy than ours but thats the beauty of live performances. Every interpretation is different.

It was amazing! I haven't been to The National for years but it was just as I remembered. And the production - well, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I'd love to know your thoughts.

I haven't been to The National, but I did see Dancing at Lughnasa about 10 years ago in a London theatre. I will let you know how it goes. We are also going to see Shirley Valentine on the same weekend and making a trip of it!

Wow what a weekend! We are so lucky that where we live, Oxfordshire, is within striking distance of several great theatres, inluding the RSC. We didn't realise how easy it was to get to the National by train though.

Sadly, we have just had to cancel everything as my 90 year old dad is seriously ill and we are going to see him in hospital in Dublin. Maybe next time.......

Oh I am sorry. I hope you are able to spend time with your Dad. London and the theatres will still be there.

Thank you. That's exactly what my son said! We will be back.

I thought you were at the races when I saw the headline Karenanne lol. So glad you enjoyed it and it wasn't too much of a trek to get there and back . Its a long time since I went to the theatre, must check it out when I am well enough to go. x

I don't think I've ever been to the races! My mom went to Ascot when I was a child and said she'd take me when I was a 'grown up' - I'm still waiting! Obviously not grown up enough yet! 😂

I went once when I was younger and wasn't really impressed, just couldn't get excited about horses running round a track but have never been a betting person so it left me a bit flat x

Thanks for interesting post, envious. Haven’t been to theatre for many years because of risk infection. Last time at Stratford on Avon, RSC, Hamlet. Hope you can continue enjoying. Jean x

We're at the RSC in June and July. We are lucky to live close and they do a really good deal for disabled visitors and their companion.
