This was the title of an interesting webinar organised by Harefield transplant clinic. Several disciplines gave a short presentation, e.g. consultants, physios, psychologists and nutritionists. I especially liked the physio's statement that we should look upon exercise as 'Training for transplant!' Now, on a dreary, cold day when I have an early class I can pretend I'm an elite athlete and use that motivational phrase to get me out of bed! π€£

The road to transplant
Hello Karenanne61 π I admire you so much, you're an inspiration to me how you cope and manage your illness.Been really poorly π recently and thought about you and your amazing resilience to deal with many fearful episodes and win!
Good idea, will try and be an elite athlete too, may help to get me out of bed! π€£ π€£ Take good care of yourself. Best wishes. Dawn.xx
Oh my goodness that's not how I see myself!π I'm like everyone and do have some very dark times. I'm so lucky with my husband and daughter (who is my inspiration, she is registered blind but that doesn't stop her. She recently played blind ice hockey! π± ) and, strangly, new friends made from the new activities my illness has forced upon me. My husband popped out earlier to run our grandson to karate and asked, as he does, if there was anything I wanted, I was able to answer, honestly, that I was content practising crochet with 60s music on the telly. Little things please little minds.π€£ I'm sorry you've been poorly. It's very hard to stay positive when illness walks through the door. I recommend crochet! It will not beat me! I hope you're feeling better now. Take care Dawn the elite athlete! π
Yes we have some dark times but the comfort, care and compassion I've had from our group is wonderful, definitely keeps me going! π₯° Off to clear the lungs and pjs next. Relax and have a lovely evening. xx π
Hello Karen. So good to hear Harefield work to prepare patients so diligently. This is very good. And yes, exercise is so important it is indeed training for transplant and has to be continued afterwards. Sending love and hugs. xx β€οΈ
