Sorry i forgot to say the specialist gave me a low dose of Morphine for when i have a panic attack, only 0.5 on a syringe, i am wondering if it could be helpful for exasperation as it supposed to calm me helping me cope with panic attacks, it is not for everyday use strictly for when needed, anyone else on morphine and if so for what. thank you.

Low dose Morphine can be used to ease breathing. It acts on the brain to make us think about the breathlessness differently. (?!?) I'm allergic to morphine so have oxycodone which helps me.

My husband has it , 1.25 in a syringe, it does help a lot with the panic and gets his breathing back to a relatively comfortable level whenever its particularly difficult . It’s suppose to be up to four times per day but the Gp had told him to try to stick to the four but definitely use it if he feels it’s necessary . (Just a word of warning -my husband is stage 4 emphysema and virtually bedbound and that advice was only given recently ) Overuse can cause confusion, which is not pleasant , but you’re on such a low dose , I’m sure if you use it as prescribed you’ll find it very useful 😊

Yes, I have a very low dode of morphine for exatly what you described - panic attacks and calming the breathing. It certainly helps but I don't use it every day.

I believe several members use the liquid Oromorph to aid breathinbreathing and calm coughing . It is a controlled drug so needs to kept well away from children (and anyone who might have a quick swig - it has a street value)! Hope it works for you. The oral syringe is an ideal way to take it. P

I've been on Oramorph liquid morphine for pain on/off for years ,my advice... take only as GP prescribed, it is highly addictive also you can become amune to it ,I finished up on 25mg which had very little if not ,no effect ,was slowly weaned off . Now 0.5mg would be highly effective. As you know morphine is an opioid, a class A drug ,please read through the included information leaflet on do's n don'ts especially if you've never taken morphine before.Hopi ng it works well for you and does it's intended job. 😊 xx sorry .... liquid morphine has a more instant effect than tablet form, which is often on a slow release.

Hi bobbyfloyd, lots of people use morphine for different reasons but one main thing it helps with is breathing which is often worse in panic attacks. I found it soothes my pain and my cough and helps the breathing with just a small dose. Best wishes with it.
