Lung abscess

Good afternoon people

Looking to see if anyone has encountered the same problem as me.

Had a lower lobe lung abscess i spent 2 weeks in hospital on IV and 7 weeks on oral antibiotics feeling bad all the way through. Only seen the consultant once who said from a x-ray i believe it has gone.

Paid for private MRI which picked up lobe opacification - x-ray showed nothing

Paid for private bloods which only picked up Anti-streptolysin O level over 320 should be <200 yet to investigate.

Going round in circles, any advice would be so appreciated!

sorry , just noticed your post …..I think I may have had a lung abscess years ago ( hope you have a strong stomach ) …as I was coughing up what looked like pus not just discoloured mucus . Horrid smell and taste , felt ill, pains in chest .

Long before the days of scans , just X rays .

Many courses of antibiotics …oral and IV , no longer cough up yucky stuff . Still short of breath and asthmatic .
