I have had pneumonia.
I am tired all the time .
Now have instense stabbing pain in chest on right side when I breathe in which is relieved with pain killers.
All vitals good sputum test negative but the pain in horrendous . Been coughing for weeks and still have productive cough. What could this be?

I had similar a few weeks ago and my doctor thought that I had pulled the muscles around the rib cage with all the coughing that’s why it was hurting so bad when I breathed in.

That’s exactly what happened to me after catching Covid. I coughed for weeks on end and then had pains in my chest and felt like I’d been punched in ribs. I concluded that I must have bruised my ribs or pulled a muscle through coughing. It went away eventually.
it’s very scary isn’t it , to start with I thought it was my heart 🙈. It did take a while to stop hurting

It does take a long time to get over pneumonia, especially the tiredness. The pain, together with the productive cough probably means that the infection is still there and you need more antibiotics. Do go to see your doctor.

I have had pain for weeks after having suspected pleurisy. I presume the muscles etc take time to heal .I hope the pain eases soon.

Yes, best to get your chest listened to by a gp asap, they can recognise several difdifferent sounds through a stethoscope including pleurisy (a scraping noise where the pleural membranes rub, they should glide silently). S/he will also hear if an infection is present needing more antibiotics. Costochronditis is also painfupainful, I've found fractured ribs and pleurisy almost identicallidentically exexcruciating .

Hi I'm wondering ifyou managed to see your GP for your results or did you just ask reception for your results ? I personally feel if you are experiencing intense pain on breathing your GP should be looking into why ... we shouldn't have to try to figure out why we are still poorly. I know it's still difficult to get an appointment with our doctors but insist there is something wrong to get pain like that iand don't be fobbed off ..

I think, like one of the previous replies, it sounds like you may still have an infection and possibly pleurisy. Pleurisy can be excruciating- I have had to have paracetamol, codeine and oramorph for the pain previously and there’s little they can do sadly apart from pain relief. It’s a case of time and the inflammation in the pleura subsiding. I have had several bouts of pneumonia and severe chest infections in the past 18 months, often accompanied by pleurisy and it takes a long time to get your strength back. Please do contact your GP and ask for a face to face appointment so they can listen to your breathing and check for (a) continued infection and (b) pleurisy, so you can get the antibiotics you might need and pain relief. Doctors can be a bit quick sometimes to blame chest pain on muscular pain, but pleurisy pain is way beyond this. I’ve had it so often, they tend to listen to what I say now - I’ve sadly become a regular at A&E and admitted with repeated infections 🥲. I do hope you manage to get some answers, and start to improve soon. X

As everyone else has said you should see your doctor. It does sound like pleurisy but only further investigations can confirm that. Tiredness from pneumonia does take some time to go. Be kind to yourself and make sure you find time to rest. 🤗
I’ve had a similar pain for some time. My gp listened to my chest, which is clear, and says it’s probably all the coughing causing muscle issues.
