So as you know Stan has slowly been working his way through every illness mankind has to offer .. He's not been great since Friday refusing to eat or have any snacks ...he's very tired and just not very happy...
He's having little tiny walks about 15 mins and he's drinking lots ..
I'm having chats with the vets at the moment regarding what to do ... I have decided to give him a few days to see if he will pick up in any way to we are heartbroken is an understatement...
I don't want him suffering in any way at all so I will keep you all posted over the next few days as I know a lot of you have come to love him and his antics I would love for him to pinch a sausage roll or a blueberry muffin just once more for the hell of it ๐ค

I have stopped trying for now and letting him rest ... I feel like I have cooked grilled poached everything and he's sniffing it and walks of ...he's no appetite at all sadly ๐
So sorry to hear Stan isnโt doing too well. Always knew this day would come sadly but what a terrific time heโs having with you in a very loving home.
Lots of love and hugs dear friend. Thinking of you.
Oh my goodness! This reminds me of our dear departed Rockie who was adept at stealing barbequed sausages on the beach. So hoping that Stan turns a corner but if not, the biggest gift you can give him is a kind and gentle ending. Dogs can really break your heart. xxx
Oh poor Stan and poor you. He seemed so lively not so long ago. I hope he will pick up. Bless you, especially if you have to make a very difficult decision. xxx
He was running round Friday morning in the forest this weekend he's gone downhill very quick I'm praying which I never do sadly I need him to turn himself around x๐
Hi there .. you say Stan was OK in the forest? You say he's had everything going but is it possible tree pollen could be affecting him this time... hay-fever can make you feel pretty ill and very lethargic..? It would be kinder if it's something that simple wouldn't it
Aww thankyou for your thoughts unfortunately Stan has a tumour in his nasal cavity ...It was diagnosed around 6 weeks ago although he's had it some time ...
We live in the forest as in on it so he's on the forest all year round..
Bless him he's a beauty isn't he .... I do hope he doesn't suffer too much ..I thought it worth mentioning because our frenchie gets really sneezy and snotty with hay fever and he loses energy .... and if was a little bit easier on his body to help with meds but given his other condition very possibly not ๐ I hope he can cope a little longer for you x
Ahhh thankyou... Frenchies are renound for allergies ๐คง with their little noses ... Stans 15 next birthday so had a good innings .. we have had him 3 years after his last owner wasn't pleasant to him he came to us in a bit of a mess but with love and care he's become such a little character โค๏ธ
Tree pollen allergies are seasonal, mainly occurring between February and June. As some shrubs and trees start releasing pollen as early as January, hay fever can be triggered very early on into the new year, with people often confusing the symptoms for those of a common cold.12
It's very heartbreaking I can't sit still I'm so tired and I just need him to get over this whatever this is ... I'm not ready yet and he's not either I know him well enough but my fingers are crossed and my heart aches ๐
Poor little man.โฅ๏ธ I too really hope that he makes it through whatever this is so that you have some more time together and youโre both more ready โฆ. Xx
Ahhh thanks cof... I certainly will it's such a horrible time...your still obviously having problems with all the full stops it's made me giggle a bit ... really frustrating for you though...๐ฉต
I am so sorry BB. You must do what is best for him. ๐ I think for me this is the hardest part of loving Chom. Yesterday when he was looking up at me I noticed his white whiskers on his head and chin have increased so much recently. Their lives are too short. I send you and dear Stan all my love and Godspeed. xx โค๏ธ
Hi Bb, Iโve been โ out of the loopโ for a while and so was very saddened to come back and read your post. What a horrible, heartbreaking time youโre going through, Iโm so very sorry. Thinking of you both xx
Hey thankyou for your thoughts.. he's had a really good night's sleep and is in the garden at the moment wobbly but pottering ...So we shall see what today brings I have cancelled all my dog walks for today ๐ฉต
Iโm so sad to read this post. Iโve loved looking at your beautiful photos of Stan (as well as your other lovely photos) and I just hope he can find the strength to rally.
oh Iโm so sorry. But who knows he may pick up again. Iโve been through the heartbreak of having dogs and cats and they are your Children . I really hope for you that this isnโt the moment. Itโs very hard to say goodbye to a good friend and you have now to put your trust in the vets hands. Letโs hope he will pick up and be bouncing around again. My dog once stole four faggots of the top of my breakfast bar. I went to open the door to the insurance man. When I came back there was nothing there. Itโs what they are like. Xx
I did see the funny side as well as worrying if he would be ok. I would never have believed he could even reach them because they were back quite a way. They are so crafty with food though.
Anne thanks so very much .He was doing great until Friday just gone he was running around with his buddies on the walk ... then into the evening he started to get ill ..
He's had a great night of sleep and a mooch in the garden love returning to you ๐
I have everything crossed that he carries on pottering around and improves. Always the hardest part of having a pet but heโs had the life with you many dogs can only dream of. ๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค
Iโm so sorry to hear this ,I understand exactly what youโre going through ๐ฅฒ My own dog has health issues , currently on medication, and I live in absolute terror of them escalating . I hope Stan rallies and manages to keep going for awhile longer but I know youโll do whatโs best for him when the times right and you can console yourself knowing you gave him the best life . There are so many people rooting for him and sending loving thoughts your way so letโs hope the little chap bucks up ๐ Keep your chin up ๐๐โค๏ธ Xxx
Do you know that's made me giggle ... I had a chat with him this morning and my very words to him were ..You better buck your ideas up and get this mended ...
I'm not creating a sad environment for him but my god the tears burn hard when trying to hold them back ...
So sorry to hear your going through similar things always free to lend an ear ๐ฉต
Boris was treated for disc disease in 2020 , it was the most horrible time , he was in terrible pain and was treated with loads of medication including morphine which kept the pain at bay but I think made him appear even worse than he was ! He spent 12 weeks on crate rest and I had to carry him outside to toilet . It was heartbreaking to watch and the vet warned there could be a sudden deterioration ( even death) at any time . Luckily he recovered but we were told there could be more episodes . A few days ago he started with the same symptoms, slow gait , slight limp and unable to jump onto furniture, luckily he wasnโt in the pain he was in last time and I still have some medication which I started him on ( apart from the morphine) and heโs doing really well ๐ค but the worry is the worst thing isnโt it ? Last night I gave hubby his meds , Boris his meds , treated my other dogs ears ( always suffering with them ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ) and took my own stuff for sinus problems , I had a chat with the dogs as you did and said โ I donโt know weโre all falling to bits ! Come on guys all take our meds and wake up feeling better !! โ Well weโve all woke up ๐ Iโll be thinking of you and Stan , keep us informed xxxx
Tell me is Boris a Frenchie...It sounds awful the pain and anguish we go through for them it's so heartbreaking... and like you say you have all woke up this morning to some sunshine I hope ...
The other dog must have big long ears for repeated infections... steer clear of water if they like it a bit too much ...
Stans asleep at the moment so least he's resting for a while ๐
Good that heโs resting and had his potter around the garden , hopefully heโll wake feeling a little better ๐ Yes both my dogs are Frenchies , Boris was a rescue , brought over from Poland , he had been in four homes before he came to us at 16 weeks so obviously taken from his mother too early and then passed to people who didnโt realise that if a puppy is shut in all day whilst your working itโs going to pee n poop in your house and cry all day ๐ I bought Bella from a breeder and had her spayed at six months to save her from being used for breeding ( much to the annoyance of the breeder ๐) Theyโve both had minor issues throughout their lives ( Boris is on permanent medication for digestive issues ) I sometimes think that if we werenโt in the position we are now ie not able to take holidays or days out we wouldnโt be able to afford to care for the dogs and feed the wildlife - talk about every cloud ! ๐. Anyway the dogs have a good life , theyโre happy and couldnโt be loved more and they bring so much pleasure and comfort in dark times to us so no complaints ๐ xx
I hope Stan is going to be fine, he's a beautiful dog and I love reading what he gets up to. Virtual hugs to you and lots of love and virtual hugs to Stan. Try to have a good day and take care ๐ Bernadette and Jack ๐ xxxxxx ๐ป๐ป๐
Poor boy & poor you. Itโs a horrible feeling to look on feeling useless. Could he possibly have eaten something he shouldnโt have on his walks making him feel unwell. Iโm glad heโs pottering in the garden today. Thinking of you & sending you both gentle ๐ค x
He's a cat poo scavenger ... but we don't see many cats around this area ... doubt he would have picked any up o the forest ... he's got a tumour in his nasal cavity and he's nearly 15 so he's doing great until Friday sadly ๐ฉต
He certainly is a good age bless him. My daughterโs dog is a scavenger for anything disgusting ๐คฎ. As a puppy he pinched a whole sweetcorn from the bbq & had to have surgery to remove it. I do hope he picks up they are such a worry x
oh poor stan, and poor you. it hurts ao much when you cant help them but . you must give him time to recover and possibly not be as active as the old stan but still giving you all the love he has for you .
I have all the time in the world as you know for this young man ...He's been my constant companion for 3 years nearly ... but this time its different can't put my finger on it ... we had words this morning and I have told him to buck his ideas up fingers crossed ๐ค
Aww Hon Iโm so sorry heโs so poorly. It sounds like it might be a problem with his kidneys if heโs drinking a lot. My cat is fourteen now and has started to drink a lot. The trouble is I donโt know if someone is feeding him dried food. That will make them drink. Itโs horrible to see your dog poorly. Iโve had four dogs over the years. Two of which were adopted when the Children were quite young. I was so upset as each one passed away. You can only give him plenty of love and any food whatever it is if he fancies. I do hope he improves for you.
Ahhh thankyou so very much for your kind thoughts.. I think he's drinking more due to not eating his raw diet covers a lot of his fluids...so with him not eating his food he will naturally drink more I guess ... but its good he's drinking as he won't get dehydrated then ..You just feel so helpless we shall see what tomorrow brings us ๐
I am so sorry to hear that Stan is off his food and won't be tempted. We lost our old boy, Charlie, four years ago, the hardest day ever but we knew it was the day. The day before my elderly Mum and he came for a short walk on a sunny, frosty morning and despite being doddery he managed to retrieve a carrot from a toddlers hand. He was so delighted with his 'find' it was a habit of his to target youngsters and persuade them to share their food. His last theft, I remember it well. I am thinking of you and Stan and I hope that he picks up and manages some more raids. Maybe a freshly baked sausage roll left on a human plate could tempt him! Seriously though sending you my heartfelt positive vibes to you both. You will know what needs to be done when the time is right and hoping that is not yet. Ceri x
Thankyou so very for sharing your own story with me my heart aches for anyone whose lost a pet ... My last girl Hannah was around until she was 17 and even then it broke me ...very much the same with Stan I'm working on the little bugger to pull himself together and get over what ever this is โค
I hope the situation improves. You have brightened our days with pics and stories of the life Stan shares with you. Our pets are so precious. Thinking of you and sending best wishes.
Oh BB my heart goes out to you. I understand so much of what youโre going through. Iโve missed reading about his antics recently. Keep him close. Much love to you both. Diane x
Thankyou so much Diane he's such a little poppet and we are not quite ready yet fingers crossed he's had some boiled chicken today and licked his lips after ๐
I've only just read about Stan. I hope he had slept well and you get him to eat a little more today. What a wonderful character he has and has been a joy to hear his escapades........wishing him better and love to you to BB. Take care Jill xx๐งก๐
