You may have noticed that my dad Tony has not posted on here for a while. He's been having a rough time recently trying to fight off infections and increased breathlessness which has come with anxiety. As you all know though, he's a fighter.
He was admitted into hospital on Monday due to very low SAT's despite him turning up his oxygen to the maximum of 30 litres at home.
He is currently in intensive care receiving excellent treatment from all of the health care professionals trying to fight an infection that has caused 'consolidation' in his left lung.
He's trying out yet another piece of equipment that was described to us as being 'the closest thing to continuous positive air pressure (CPAP) without actually being CPAP'. They're also hitting him with the antibiotics. He is responding well to treatment, resting up when he can and also working hard with the physio when he can. His appetite seems to be improving as well (he had 3 puddings on his table when I was visiting yesterday!!)
He wanted me to keep you all updated and send you all his love. I know your support is invaluable to him, as you are the only ones who can ever truly understand what life is like living with breathlessness.
I hope you are all well and living life to the full, however that may be in the condition you find yourselves in. I know for my dad, since falling ill, he has learnt to appreciate the smaller things in life. Many of the staff in the Intensive Care Unit remember him from how ill he was in 2010 and for everything he has achieved since. They have told him how brilliant and inspirational he is, which he has been totally overwhelmed by - even moved to shed a few tears. The staff at Worcester Royal have given us more than we could ever thank them for; the gift of time. We are hoping and praying that they will continue to work their magic and send him back home to us again.
Love to you all,
Sophie (Dall05's daughter) x

Needless to say we are all rooting for him and please give him our best wishes. He is a tremendous inspiration here and the best example ever of fighting back with humour to the beat of a rock band. Thanks for updating us Sophie. x
Dear Sophie,Thank you for the update, you are a chip of the old block if you don't mind me saying so and we love that old block Tony to bits so we are sending both of you love and a bit of dodgy air from our dodgy lungs to help in his recovery..........skis and scruffy cat x

Sending much love and positively. Your dad must be so proud of you, you must get your strength from him. Look after yourself, give yourself a hug, a pat on the back, have a damn good scream and shed that tear it will keep you fighting with him. We all know your dads a fighter and he draw some of that from you. Like i said he must be so proud of you lady.
Tony is hugely missed here, Sophie, and like you we can't wait to get him back. He really is inspirational and a fighter who has given so much to us on the site here.
Three puddings, brilliant Tony - keep it up and the physio too so you build up the strength you need, but don't forget to rest. Hope you've got some music in there with you.
Thank you so much Sophie for updating us and please send Tony loads of love. xxx jean
Thank you so much Sophie for letting us know how your dad is doing. When he gets onto the main respiratory wing tell him to look out for a young girl called Kyra she is only 18 but does a few shifts on that ward. Please tell your dad we are all wishing him well, I can image how he feels I was in hospital in November for two weeks, and can still remember the three times that I completely lost my breathe and did not think I would get it back again. I did and a couple of months down the line I am still here. Worcester hospital gets a lot of flack in the press, they have treated my family well. In a few months it will become my local hospital as we are moving house.
Thank you for your post Sophie and for telling us how things are. I’m really pleased that Tony is responding to treatment and improving. I’m sure it can’t be too soon for you when they tell him he’s well enough to come home again. Please send love. xx

Aww Sophie, you and your mum & brother must be so worried, yet here you are taking time to come and update your dad's "fan club", that's so kind of you. He certainly is a very special man and I'm in no doubt at all he'll be back with you before long. I can't imagine any infection getting the better of our Tony, especially now they've started hitting it with the IVs. I know he's been more poorly recently, and the onset of this anxiety is an added problem, but I hope he's getting help with that now. He's the toughest of the tough guys, even if he doesn't feel like it just now. With 3 puddings though, he'll soon be back on form! x
I think he gives more support than we could ever repay and I am thankful you posted to let us know his current situation. I will sure be praying for a recovery so he can return home.
Wish him all the best and as he knows we are all thinking of him.
Thanks Sophie, your Dad has a daughter to be oroud of, lovely letter. We all wish him Well, where would we be without his smiling face? Old January has a lot to answer for , much illness around. Three puddings! That should. Build him up, sounds like a good hospital. Love Iris x
Sorry he's still having a rough time of it, but by all accounts he's seen some good improvement. Thank you for letting us know Sophie and please pass on hugs and best wishes for a speedy recovery x
Thank you Sophie for giving us news of Tony, he is such a loved and respected member of our HU family. I hope he's back on full form soon, we need him ! Sheila xx
Can you give your Dad regards and I hope he’s home soon with you all. He has always been a fighter of his disease and obviously still is. Maybe this episode will push him closer to transplant. Hope he gets better soon.
Hello Sophie, sorry to hear your dads not so well, but good that he is improving slowly. Thank you so much for letting us know , fingers crossed he will soon be back in top form. Take care of yourself as you will need your strength to help your dad recover especially when he gets home. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to dad (Tony).
sending my best wishes.hope tony feels better soon.
Sophie, thanks for the update on your dad. As you say he's a fighter and it's great to hear he's receiving the best care available on the wonderful NHS. Hope he pulls through this latest set-back and gets well enough to be fit for that transplant when it comes. Come on Tony, "Up the Bulls".
Thank you for letting us know about Dad...it sure sounds from your message that he is receiving the very best attention. Our NHS is remarkable and worthy of praise. Please add my name to the already long list of well wishers and also for a full recovery.

Bless you for keeping us up to date Sophie. Bless Tony too, he's such a brilliant, kind, funny, positive and lovely person. I know how proud he is of his family. I, along with Frose & PollyP met up for a wonderful walk on the Malvern's & it was very precious time. I'm not far away, if there's anything I can do I'd be more than glad to. We just love him here as you can see from all the lovely replies.
Thanks again, thinking of you all with love. Penelope xxxx
What a Lovely daughter you are.. Give Your dad a big Smacker from me even if he doesn't know me. I have always enjoyed his Funny Quips and Warmth. Keep strong as a family , Sending Love n Hugs. Carolina de Espana. XXX
Hello again Sophie. I hope your dad is getting on ok and feeling a bit better, and the consolidation you mentioned perhaps improving. I hope, as he's getting such good care, maybe that's helping with the anxiety. Please let him know I'm thinking of him.
Sophie, please tell your dad how lovely it was to see his post today, wishing Bev a happy birthday. Sounds as if he’s having a very rough time & has quite a way to go, but he’ll get there, though he may not think so, cause he’s fed up to the back teeth with feeling so ill and anxious. I know he can’t post very often & anyway he must use his energy for getting better. Just give him my love and say I’m longing to hear he’s on the mend xxx
