STRUGGLING TO BREATHE ?

I've seen a few comments here that some members are struggling to breathe at night ... 1. It could be that the warm air of heating is causing it .. try to open a window a little to let some air into the living room

2 Gp suggested to me that an air purifier with a hepa filter might help if only to have on overnight in the bedroom. and it does ... it cools the air and collects irritants ..giving your lungs some nice cool air ,, well worth the money and you don't need to have your window open..

3. I also have a Himialayan Salt Lamp which I feel is beneficial when my chest is crackly, the salt seems to dry up the congestion

But I only use the Salt lamp or the Air purifier At one time ...

4. Besides my inhalers helping so does my nasal spray brand name is Dymista ...if you can't get it off the shelf ask your doctor ... its a really good one .

I do hope this helps some of you ..

Bless you some good tips there.I find that the cold air upsets my lungs at night if I have the windows open -but do find that sleeping more upright supported by lots of pillows helps.

HEPA filter certainly helps as does a himalayan salt lamp.

Stay well and keep warm in this cold spell.

That's a very kind post with some useful ideas. Like Cloudancer I need warm air at night, but I like the idea of a salt lamp. They're so pretty; it's good if they are useful too. xx

If you have cats be careful if you have salt lamps, if they lick them it can make them extremely poorly 😿

So true be mindful of your pets ... my salt lamp is on my bedside cabinet and I don't allow my cats in my bedroom often because their fine hairs can really affect my chest .. the only thing I've ever known my cats to be fascinated with are lillies and my cat used to go cross eyed sniffing at them, then I read that they are poisonous to cats .. so I stopped buying lillies 😐

Yes and daffodils - I can’t have fresh flowers anymore as the pollen aggravates my breathing.

I sleep on an adjustable bed, so essentially sitting fairly upright. When I lay flat, I tend to fill up with muck. Sitting a lot means your backside is loaded for long periods, and you may be prone to pressure sores in that vulnerable area of your body.

Thankyou for the helpful hints. Unless it's blowing a hooley or just too, too cold I always have the window open a little.
