Had the surgery 3 1/2 years ago at Royal Papworth Hospital and it went well but I underestimated the recovery period which is longer than you think. I took 6 months for my body to fully recover. Don't regret ever having the op.

I have no info either, you can put lung reduction in the search bar above right. Lots of older post and their replies will come up. Very good luck with it.

i had LVRS I'm October 2018 . I had an upper left lobectomy . Have done really well since and wish I'd had it earlier . Wanted right lung done as well but unfortunately I have a cavity in that one with a mycetoma inside it which makes it risky . Good luck take your time with your recovery and you will be OK.

A friend had a lobe taken out in his 80s and recovered remarkably quickly. He was praised for playing his trumpet and attending my singing sessions regularly, as these helped the lung and abdominal muscles to be as fit as possible and aided recovery.

Hi! Excuse me being nosey but why are you having a lung reduction I’ve just been diagnosed with hyperinflated lungs and wonder if they will ever suggest it for me. I Remember being told years ago I had long lungs but apparently they are now hyperinflated.

Obviously I wish you well in the op and I hope you make a quick recovery.

I have emphysema and my lungs press down on my diaphragm .Most of the damage is in the top lobe of my lung. They tell me I will breath a lot easier after my op.Thanks for your reply.

my damage is Interstitial scarring so at the bottom of my lungs.

Hi Davyroy just wondering how you're been since the lung reduction surgery. Hope all went well and have noticeable improvement in breathing and walking. Did you find it painful during recovery and did it take long.. I'm still in line to have this but I'm still relatively active but obviously short of breath and tight chested some of the time, also still hesitant to go ahead because of risks. All the Best Mike Baker
