Hi there good luck with that Barts is wonderful I have recently been told at this stage I may be suitable for LVR. Can you with your experience tell me what procedures pre-op you had to go through Kind regards. Trevor

Cubangirl profile image
Cubangirl in reply to Trevor6

Hi Trevor6 my pathway to LVRS started with lung VQ scan , CT scan and pulmonary rehab I am now waiting to have SPECT scan and echocardiogram on admission to St Barts London. Tbh because of pandemic I have been going through this pathway for 3 years !! But finally the surgical MDT agreed i am candidate πŸ‘πŸΌ

Hi. Congratulations on being chosen for the LVR Operation. I had mine 2 years ago in Papworth however please give yourself plenty of time to recover as it will take longer than you think but well worth it in the long run

Good morning will57 😁I was wondering when you returned home from hospital were you able to walk upstairs ? We are wondering if we should have bed downstairs for the first couple of weeks ? xx

Will57 profile image
Will57 in reply to Cubangirl

I actually had a stairlift put in. Stairlift up walk down. But that was before the op as I was very bad

Will57 profile image
Will57 in reply to Cubangirl

It took all of 6 months to recover from the operation. I did not anticipate that

Cubangirl profile image
Cubangirl in reply to Will57

Yeah I have been offered stairlift but really don’t want one 😳 I would prefer to walk up n down !! But maybe bed downstairs may be the answer πŸ‘πŸΌ

Cubangirl profile image
Cubangirl in reply to Will57

Hi will57 can you tell me how long you were in hospital ? xx

Will57 profile image
Will57 in reply to Cubangirl

I believe in Papworth it is around 6 days but they put mine back two days then the surgeon had an emergency so back another 3 days then after the surgery I had irregular heart rate so an extra few days (could make this up could you) but worked out for me as I then had the tubes taken out before I left

Trevor6 profile image
Trevor6 in reply to Will57

Hi, Will57, at what stage of tests did you know you were suitable for surgery, I have had x-rays, ct scans, LFT ?

Hi, yes hope surgery goes well, nice birthday present. I’m glad your getting good attention, not all of us with lung issues do. I was born in 1935 with PCD, only in last few years have had Consultant who understands it. Although going to main hospital in Birmingham Consultant was seeing wasn’t helpful, so paid to look on line to see interests etc of all respiratory consultants in area, and found Dr Sullivan who is knowledgeable and helpful, and regret didn’t do so earlier, as have partly collapsed lung resting on other. Hope your surgery goes well, good luck and best wishes. Jean x

Absolutely brilliant news. And interesting to see the good advice about recovery time and not being too impatient. It will take time to recover from such major work. But the best of luck. We’ll all be wanting to know how it goes.
