Why did i smoke
Its a horrible question.. im sure all us smokers ask ourselves now and again dont beat yourself up for doing it ..
Have you tried Trimbow thats the one i started around 3months back and its working fine...hope you get a resolve have a long chat with your GP or practitioner at the practice 🥰
Iwas the same, Loved a ciggie but bad health so went on the vaping trail.
After a few months on them I was gagging literally so, one morning I woke up stretched for the vape ... and something inside me said DON`T , after years of trying to stop the habit i Listened to that very loud voice and threw the lot into the bin.
That was 10 years ago and now, the very smell turns my stomach.
Although I feel a hypocrite for holding my breath when I pass a smoker now... It was the best self help I ever gave myself.
Keep at giving up, it is sooooooo worth it to have clean smelling clothes, house and car.
You can do it, If I could after years of blowing wages up in smoke , you can do it.
Good luck.
Tom.
Hi Tom, I tried vaping for a few months after I gave up smoking and I would say it’s as bad for you as smoking. It definitely affected my chest.
Has the experience helped you to give up the ciggies though?
OOP`S,i HAVE JUST READ YOUR BIO.
I have a co2 of 92 and lung capacity of 40-41% but sometimes my CO2 will go to 97 and fluctuate to as low as 86%
This new con sultant say`s your doing well HELL NO I can`t walk up the stairs without sounding like Thomas the tank engine.
I do have other problems but AT LEAST i AM STILL BREATHING Although kids think i`m creepy, especially at night when they are trying to sleep. arhhhhhhhhhhh.
The positive is ........ you are doing everything right except for anxiety which, is something I think we all have.
SO as Mr Spock say`s "live long and prosper" NOT: I said Mr Spock NOT Doctor Spock!
Tom.😇
Perhaps you've given up by now devon, if not please do to give you and your loved ones a better quality of life.
I don't know much about copd though have to ask - did you give enough time for the inhalers to take effect? They usually take at least 3 weeks to kick in sometimes longer. Also do you know if youre taking them correctly , there are demonstrations on youtube &/of the makers websites.
I would persevere with inhalers.get asthma nurse at gp surgery to check yr technique too.ru using a spacer with them
All the best
I gave up smoking when diagnosed 12yrs ago best decision ever. We all ask that question. "Why did I Smoke ?"I know I did as theres nothing else wrong with me healthwise, other than COPD brought on by smoking.
I Dont dwell on it and am grateful for every single day. I concentrate on what I can do not what I cant. It works for me and I enjoy every day. I embrace the fact I am 78yrs young as many dont get that privilege.
Keep enjoying life and your trips out etc .sending love xxSheila 💕⚘
Hi devon29, I too struggle with the inhalers. I was diagnosed 12 years ago and struggled with tolerating an inhaler back then. I eventually chose seretide 50. I started with one puff once a week and over many months gradually increased until I could tolerate one puff once a day. I managed on that until my first covid jab. I had an inflammatory response to the jab and was told to increase my puffs which I did over 6 months. Now I can manage 2 puffs twice a day. I’ve also been told to add in another inhaler and oh boy is it difficult! I’ve tried Fostair, Atrovent and Spiriva but the side effects were ghastly. I’m now trying Incruse. I take it once every other day and yes it does help but it has given me a productive chest. I haven’t had chest secretions up until I started this inhaler so it’s such a shame to have better breathing in exchange for chest secretions. I have tried taking the Incruse every day but it gives me insomnia. Maybe you can do as I have done and introduce an inhaler gradually. Good luck.
Good morning devon29. Please do not feel bad about smoking as no one knows whats going to happen to any of us. . My dad smoked all his life and now he suffers from copd. .and people who do not smoke still get ill with there lungs or breathing i do not smoke but suffer from bronchiectasis there are so many inhalers out there and we have to try until we know which one is good for us.
