For DaveyBoy - a poem.

Sunset for Daveyboy

red embers at the end of day,

a coastal shoreline

ships far away;

a toast to life -

its ebb and sway;

And come the morning

let's not forget

the bright horizon

And a fresh baguette.

That's very gracious of you. Don is very entertaining and keeps a steady metre. The muse comes by me every blue moon - I try to reveal the truth of something.

Thanks Cloudancer. I am being very sensible, little movement and I wear a panama hat when out. I've been writing a eulogy for a friend who has died; the funeral is the 19th and I'm being picked up by car. I am also having to do some e-learning required by University College London Hospital: Information Governance etc. Its a pain in the bum - all part of the tick-box politics of the strive towards excellence. I was recently elected on to a Steering Committee for Volunteers and raised the question of training in order to help feed elderly patients. I put the cat among the pigeons by asking "How much training does one need to put a spoon in someone's mouth." This actually went down quite well with the lady chairman, but not with another lady who had supervision over Speech and Language therapists, who at this moment, are responsible for the training but are too busy to give it. But the need for training provision will be escalated, for voluntary help will free up nurses and hospital staff.

Yes it's not easy helping to feed some elderly folk especially after strokes etc.Long ago back in the mists of time as a student nurse we were taught to make mealtime special .Not stand between two beds frantically shovelling food into each patient whilst standing over them ....
