Weird feeling base of diaphragm / upper abdomen

I don't know if anyone has similar issues and if so any idea what causes it? Aswell as asthma I have various allergies including pollens ( tree, grass, mugwort, mould) and reflux and hiatus hernia.

The oesophagitis has been worse and my GP has upped my omepazole. With the heat I think the local pollution has increased. Anyway I get this tight feeling across the top of my abdomen (under the diaphragm) and at the same time feel extremely tired and as if there is a flood of chemicals or inflammation in the same area. (Really hard to explain!) I've checked my spirometry and it is down only a little from my norm of 350 to 330, and oxygen 98%. Also have a urinary infection and on antibiotics. I've had it before. I take antihistamines daily, fostair, nasophan and montekulast.

Has anyone else experienced this?Any thoughts on possible cause?

I wonder if you contacted the ALUK helpline they could give you an insight into what may be happening to your diaphragm/ abdomen. The helpline is open for UK residents during the working week on

0300 222 5800.

Take care .

Good idea, not thought of doing that although I've spoken to them before about asthma. Thanks. Just wondering though if anyone else had experienced something similar!

I’m sat here in hospital with same thing tight diaphragm.lm being treated for a NTM lung infection which we think causes it, when the infection gets under control the more it seems to relax it is the strangest thing and nobody here can tell why but it makes breathing very difficult when it tightened up I can feel it pressing on lower rib. If this is similar to you, you have my sympathy, but my guess it’s infection that causes it. Good luck

Many thanks for taking the time to share. Sorry to hear you're in hospital and hope treatment helps. I was on antibiotics for a different infection and it seems to be settled atm. But I will bear your experience in mind. I've had it before but it seemed to last longer this time. I haven't coughed up blood only phlegm. Appreciate the post and all the best to you.
