Yes , I'm a regular and he always looks after us , believe it or not if I went in and bought them he only charges 50 cents for two and they are large baguettes that's about thirty pence

I usually have a baguette and what the Greeks call a black bread which is an uncut brown loaf but round . But because their hot they get eaten quickly 😅😅 the baguette I eat as it is no butter it's sweet and beautiful soft with a light crispy crust mmmm sorry munching on one already 😂😂

We have been going there for over 30 years and Schinoussa only has 130 residents so we know many. We feel it's a bit like going home, they are so welcoming. Yes not too far from you Dave. We have never been to Rhodes

A little honey is beautiful especially with ham and cheese , the local honey is gorgeous 😂😂 but if you are not a honey person leave it out 😁 one time of the day I wouldn't touch honey but since coming here taste as changed. I hated gales honey but the fresh stuff is different I guess because it's fresh .

I never have liked sweet tastes even as a child,I think I take after my dad. He grew garden peas and we both ate them by the handful,much nicer than sweets!My snacks today have been Victoria plums and cashew nuts.👍

Brie, Brie and more Brie. In Fiji, if I walked into town, I went past a bakery, where they had a hatch for selling to passing trade. In the mornings the smell wonderful, my favourite looked like a normal white loaf, but, it was made by having a 6" long and 2" sided chunk of cheese, wrapped in the dough. I never made it back home, without pulling off one end and dipping the crust in the melted cheese, sometime still so hot you could burn your fingers.

The baker makes these lovely fingers of bread with feta inside ohh you have to get to the bakery before 7.30 or he's sold out , once a week I have an order in for six of them three for breakfast and three for ten minutes after breakfast 😂😂😂

That is how I eat chocolate, I think (when I order a supermarket deliver), that will last the 3 days until my carer comes, then the day before she comes, none left, so I am climbing the walls if she is 10 minutes late.

Heat in this county is I must admit horrible unless you are by the seaside where you get a breeze. 32 in this country and I don’t want to go outside the door. We had 32 in Gran Canaria and I was walking about in it. It didn’t bother me at all other than I needed a hat as the sun was burning my head.

You have amazing friends 1 you get a meal from your friend's restaurant and 2 you have a Baker who is also a friend and brings you fresh baguettes straight from his bakery. Omg I really enve you and wish I had friends like you.

It's a lovely place but unfortunately the health services are not as easy as the UK and you pay for majority of the stuff so lots of pluses but one big down side . But I am in the position where I can't fly even if I wanted to return to the UK

I have had a lovely day thanks for asking. I hoovered every room in the bungalow and tidied my bedroom. I slept for four hours last night and today is the most energetic I have felt for 3 weeks so yes I had a good day.I am glad the sun is shining but it is too hot for me. Do you like the heat and do you go out much? I hope you have some sort of breeze now and maybe it will be a bit cooler tonight. One can hope or so they say.

Im really happy you had a good day and all that energy to clean up everywhere 👍🏼👍🏼 no I don't go out much while it's so hot but normally I take a walk into the village slowly of course 🤣 but I go to my friends restaurant and have a coffee and a chat with my friend , do a bit of shopping on way home bread sugar milk the essential stuff . Then back to my empty home and sit outside thinking about things . It gets lonely quite a bit so I put music on and just look across to the sea . . I guess you get really lonely a lot but listening to music can help. You can always write to me, I can't offer much but I can help to pass the time of day.I think it's great that you can go to your friend's restaurant and have a coffee and a chat. Socialising is so important for us human beings and its absolutely fantastic you can go out just going at your own pace and you have a wonderful place to be. I wonder how you found the village in the first place and what size of village is it.? It sound a wonderful place to be. I love water and the sea is so beautiful to look at and just dream of whatever comes into your mind. Do you ever do things like crosswords, games for one, jigsaws you know things like that. You can read books or magazines. They are good ways of filling in some of your day. There are loads of things to do. I cant think of anything else but I would like to repeat you can always post messages to us at your community and I'm sure you know a lot of people here. So there are some suggestions for you.

I agree it is a wonderful place to be the sea is beautiful it's not a big village really because alot of it is alotments fruit and olive trees. The shops are the centre of the village and all down one road. Now me and crossword mm no I have the attention span of an ant 😂 I play naughts and crosses but I cheat 🤣 and books well I would be ok with the Beano 😂😂 music and looking at the sea and mountains and obviously the stars that's me In a nutshell 😂

I could go out to the minimarket and I can guarantee at least ten to fifteen people have spoken to me in Greek and broken English I always answer in Greek to the best of my ability it's a respect thing I'm in their country and I make an effort and I'm respected for doing so

Good for you. I used to work with some people who were teachers from other countries living in Japan. Many of them worked really hard at learning the language and there were some who never made the effort despite living here for a long time. They just depended on their Japanese spouses to do all the interactions. It was embarrassing. 😑

Yes I live here permanent, once you adjust to the heat your ok. It's better here for me anyway in the UK always suffering from pneumonia and bronchitis but here different heat no humidity and breathing is better. Village life is good food is fantastic and fresh but not to be alone in unfortunately .

Unfortunately for me time is running late , my condition is terminal and I have limited time according to the oncologist and pulmonologist but my body is in total agreement. I live each day as it comes and enjoy everything I can but for a couple or a family who want to enjoy a life around good people with good food I would say you wouldn't find a better life than in Greek islands
Aw… so sorry… I’ve got cancer too & can’t see an easy end to it. My outlook is the same as yours. In a queer way, it is freeing - to accept & let go, value what’s here. I’m approaching what might be a nasty bit, but for the present I am at ease. Good luck and God bless.
