Photographing birds in flight is difficult, but dragonflys!!!!!

He was flying around the swimming pool for a long time before I caught him. Your eye will be taken to the outline on the inflated ring at the top of the pool, this is actually its shadow. You will need to look closely at the photo to see him in front of stone wall 2 stones up from the green bush.

I like that this one is colour coordinated with the hosepipe

I also have photos of fabulous pink dragonfly but only on grass stalks, no colour coordination.

Broad-bodied chaser? Is that me or the dragonfly? Or even, a new cocktail I have not heard of.

Thanks for the info. Always nice to have some idea of what is in the garden.

I love the fact his shadow was captured too. A beautiful beast. Sometimes we see them dog walking by the water, darting and flashing about. Are you near water?

We have a swimming pool which presumably attracts them and there is a small river about 500 m away. There also no doubt quite a number of ponds hidden in undergrowth as this is/was a farming community.

Lovely photo. I came on a dragonfly and birding holiday in France once, though I saw a female bb chaser in Northumberland recently. They are yellowy green unlike the posh males.

Ha, ha. When I saw the "walkwalkwalk" I thought my wife wanted to go for a walk, even though temperature is about 33. I will try to upload other photos when I have time.
