Hi I have just had a prc test came back positive, I have been reading about the mayor symptoms , I think sore swollen throat, pain in the back should be included in the major symptoms , as that’s how I started these symptoms should initiate a lateral flow test at least as I have been in contact with an over 80 year person who also had these symptoms and there GP has sent them for a breathing test at the hospital in a few weeks time and in no way has or been recommended to have a covid test.

Testing for covid
It’s all a bit ridiculous now and seems to be all over the place. Very hit and miss. Our grandson had surgery on Saturday for a broken wrist and had to have a lateral flow test but our daughter who was with him didn’t. Doesn’t make sense to me. Xxx
I hope you recover soon,. but I agree that people should take the test no matter what. It is so stupid telling people they have no need to be tested have a lovely day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx 🌻🌻
Sorry to hear that you are unwell and hope you recover quickly and with no issues.
With regards your friend I have to suggest that common sense should prevail! I think friend should do a Covid test - ideally a PCR because has symptoms but at least LFT’s for a few days and especially pre hospital appointment. From what you have said it is possible that they have Covid and should find out one way or the other. If they go to breathing tests having recently had Covid then results will be skewed negatively and not accurate.
It is still possible to have Covid tests at the moment plus your friend at 80yrs will still be able to obtain LFT’s anyway.
I have been trying to get LFT with no luck , I will try again.
Your friend should test for covid. I hope you soon start to feel better.xx
Hope you are starting to feel better now xx
