Cold Feet - as in cold to the touch!

Just wondering, does anyone else suffer from cold feet? My partner is stage 4 COPD and when he is in bed his feet are fine but during the day, even if he’s wearing socks or slippers, his feet are freezing cold to the touch.

I've always suffered with cold feet so I can't comment, but I'm sure someone will be able to help. Have a lovely day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx

Hiya ☺️ the best thing is exercise, the keep his circulation up. And speak to her s GP to find out the cause. Best wishes 🌺🌺🌺

I've had cold feet all my life so for me it isn't related to COPD.

If its a recent thing then perhaps inform GP, something isn't right. Does he move about much, need to keep circulation going especially if sitting for long periods.

I get cold feet but that’s been an issue for years. I often wear bed socks. However I find if I can keep my feet nice and warm the rest of me is warm too!!

Being still makes a difference . Just moving around gets blood flowing better . My feet are always cold and only warm up when I move .and otherwise will not warm up even with electric blanket . They have a purple tinge too .

In my case , my cold feet are due to poor circulation and also neuropathy from numerous chemo & radiation treatments. Best wishes to Both of You! judg69

Thank you guys (and gals) - ooh should we be saying this in light of JS???? (Or am I showing my age? 😉This is such a brilliant forum or group, within seconds of putting the post up I had a reply, couldn’t offer any help but wished us both well. It’s just nice to know that there is someone out there who cares. Lots more responses followed and they were all very helpful so thank you each and everyone of you for taking the time to reply.

The problem is with my partner he is very poorly and not very secure on his feet so the only exercise he gets is walking from the bed to his chair in front of the tv (which isn’t that far) and that’s where he stays all day. Our Respiratory Nurse is aware of it so we are monitoring it,

Thank you once again for all your support and advice. ❤️

Are his feet elevated when he is sitting? also, there are some useful ankle exercises and others which can be done whilst sitting, to keep the blood moving a bit. A visit from a rehab. Physio at home, might to be a bad thing.

Yes, he spends most of his day reclined in his armchair 😉. Just before he left hospital they were going to arrange someone from Phsyio Rehab to arrange either to come and see him or to do exercises via video call, but nothing has happened yet. Will see if his Respiratory Nurse can chase them for us. Thank you for your reply x

I have cold feet alot I did mention it to my gp about 18 months ago and took my thermal socks off so she could feel my feet, she agreed they were really cold but could offer no help for this. I also get really bad cramp if my feet are cold in bed so make sure I wear bed socks and take a hot water bottle. I think it must be circulation as the rest of my body is always overly warm and I get plenty of exercise. Perhaps your hubby could wear loose thermal socks and do chair exercises x

Sometimes my feet and legs are like blocks of ice and it's really hard to warm them up! I have had this for years and don't think it's related to my lung conditions, although could, perhaps, be heart related.

This week, despite having the heating set at 18c at night, I have been sleeping with a 10.5 tog duvet, two layers of blanket and dressing gown over my legs, plus leggings, pyjamas and a hot water bottle! My husband, lying next to me, just has the 10.5 quilt and sleeps in the buff! He is forever getting too hot!

I find the best thing is to avoid my feet getting cold in the first place, so when I sit down with my feet up, I wrap my feet and legs in a blanket. A bowl of warm water (not hot) can help if they are really frozen. I notice then that as my toes warm up, they go blue, then purple, then, finally, normal colour!

This is less of an issue in the summer, although, even then, I can still get the blocks of ice!

xx Moy
