Covid pneumonia
I was hospitalised last xmas with covid pneumonia. As poorly as I was, they treated me with IV antibiotics and nebulisers. My Oxygen levels were on the limit of needing CPAP and my breathing was bad and even moving made me short of breath, but they kept my O2 levels up with just breathing oxygen. I was in hospital 10 days and they discharged me with Dexamethasone steroids. 10 days later I was re-admitted back to hospital with recurring symptoms and after a couple of days of tests sent me home with a 2 week course of ciprofloxacin. It took the best part of 6 months to get over it. I have Bronchiectasis COPD and I think this must of made it worse, but this was my experience of covid pneumonia.
Thank you for sharing your experience. If you don’t mind me asking, how long after symptom onset were you admitted to hospital? Thanks
It's hard to say really because I didn't know I had covid until I was admitted into the hospital and they tested for it. I had been feeling pretty bad for a week or so before and just thought it was a bronchiectasis or COPD flare up, but I started feeling so so bad with it that my family called the 111 helpline and they advised I go straight to hospital. The test came back positive a day or so after. Hope this helps and I really hope you have milder symptoms!
