I'm hitting 5 mile runs now and am doing strength training on my legs to improve my endurance.
I still have some issues with my neck, but its gradually improving, lets just hope I do not put it out for a third time!
I'm now hitting more challanging climbs, and have walked up Blencathra in the lakes. I did have to do it slowly as maintaining maximum heart rate is much harder these days, so good pacing got me to the top, I also hiked to Blea tarn and have visited Loch Skeen in Scotland, all challenging walks.
I still need to work on my upper body strength, cant even manage one press-up!
Progress has been slower than I expected, which is why I started the strength training. I also found on longer runs, I need 2 days to recover. I'm perrfectly fine walking and shopping, but I cant run every other day as easily as I did prior to this. I feel the second run in my legs and it really exhausts me. So I changed the way I train and its working!
Maybe I might do a half marathon next year, but I need to double my endurance.
Onwards and upwards.

WOW!!! It must feel totally amazing that your body (and mind) can do that. I used to run, do spin classes, weights and a lot more. I used to love knowing and feeling the physicality of my body's abilities. It makes me cry that I no longer can do that. I do try and focus on what I can now do but I miss my physicality so much. You are incredible.
I go to Chair Pilates. Very gentle, except when I've been ill, which means my muscles ache like mad after an apparently undemanding session. I wonder if you would be up to something similar- it feels good when my muscles start to respond. xxx
Crumbs natswright is it really two years! How you've slowly and steadily rebuilt your stamina throughout long covid is pretty incredible so well done you. Take it easy on Yr lungs now it's winter cold wont you. Best wishes, P
Well done! Amazing progress, bravo . Your photography is also pretty impressive! Is that what you do as a job? I can imagine scenery like that giving you added impetus as well xx
Hi natswright 🙋♀️. Well done you 😊. All down to your own determination to get your fitness back. Although a lot of us now struggle to do a daily 10 minute walk it's brilliant to hear about your achievements, and a beautiful photograph👍🙂xxxx
Thanks, but i'm probably ahead of the schedule I set for myself, as I climbed a mountain after 22 months, not 2 years as i'd planned. I'm just going to keep going to sew how fit I can get.
Good to hear from you, Natswright, What you are achieving sounds great. Wish I could do a fraction of it. You are a very determined young lady and a great photographer too. All the best for further progress. Do keep in touch. xxx
Well done! This is where the forum is such a good example of sharing each and every one’s amazing efforts to keep fit, no matter how poorly our lungs are. 👍x
