My husband has been in to hospital 6 times so far this year, infections and he is a co2 retainer, he came home last week, with the above tablet, and so far he can breathe easy, so I do wonder why has it taken so long to find something else to give him, he is on inhalers, and oxygen at home, he is severe, but when I read the discharge notes it said he is End Stage Copd,no doctor at the hospital spoke to me about that, this time he had a blood clot in the lung, so now have to have injections, and have also started warfin. Is there anyone on here who is on that drug, and is it working for you? My husband has also got a leaking aneurysm in the stomach, 64 cm, cant do anything about it, also got aortic stenosis , again nothing they can do about that either, due to his copd, so everything is against him. How do you all cope? He has really gone down the last 8 months. sorry for rambling on, but when I read end stage copd, has got me thinking how long have we got, I will pleased to have some feed back. Thank you to you all and keep well.

Hi

End stage is stage four, I been end stage for about 6/7 years. No plans to depart any time soon. Surgery is a problem with COPD.

The problem with different drugs is a catch 22, they want you to keep out of hospital, if you do, they presume you have the condition under control.

When you do have to go into hospital they suddenly find a new and better selection of drugs, the irony of which they would have kept you out of hospital.

You can’t win.

Hello i have been on uniphyalin for many years. It works for me but must take it with food or after food.

Try and keep positive and do all the right things. You know lots of sex lots of drugs and lots of laughter

Hi, as previously said ‘ end stage’ can be a long long time despite the horrible sound that has.

Sounds like your husband has a lot of health issues and I know from experience with my Mum the more there is to manage the more complicated it can be.

I hope you find some support and help here for you both. Best wishes Phil

I have been on Uniphyllin for my Severe Asthma/COPD for more than 25 years. I really notice it when I have to stop taking it when on Ciprofloxacin antibiotic. Perhaps your husband's drug regime would have reacted? Could explain why he has not been on it before?

I am in a similar position and the doctors are struggling to find solutions, so I greatly sympathise with you. I have managed to keep out of hospital though. I have been on warfarin for 9 years for afib and as long as you follow instructions it is ok, but if it doesn't suit there are other suitable drugs. I too have been told it is unlikely to be able to have any surgery. As my cardiologist said, I have rubbish lungs, or as the respiratory physician put it, my lung disease is very severe! It is very difficult to manage lots of different and complicated illnesses, but I hope things go as well as possible for you! All the best xx

I can't help much with your questions but just wanted to say you never need to apologize for rambling on, as you weren't really rambling on but simply explaining your situation.

I wish you well and hope you can get some answers.
