Something positive

I had my assessment for PR yesterday. Must admit I was terrified. Strange to go to a gym, haven't used a car park with a ticket machine for an age and thought they wouldn't be able to help me.

Well, how impressed am I. Fantastic ladies who understood !!! Managed the 2 6 minute walks and even managed to chat while I did it. Goes to show that my reduced mobility is in a big part in my head. Think lockdown has done a lot of harm to our mental state but I am feeling so encouraged for the first time in a long time.

This time yesterday before I went I was in a blind panic and considered cancelling !!

I can't over stress it - pulmonary rehab gave me hope and confidence that I could manage my COPD and live a reasonably active life. Prior to PR I was afraid to exert myself in any way for fear of becoming breathless.

Good luck, have fun!

Thanks. That was is my problem too. Such simple tricks for dealing with the panics. Came home actually feeling that someone cares which again is a great boostTook the dog out this morning and just told myself that if I got breathless I could cope and it was good.

Not good with tech but have just sussed how to put a timer on my phone and will increase by 30 seconds every morning. My aim is to get up to the 3/4 mile walk to the school which I did before lockdown and for the first time in a long time I think it will happen

It's so good that it has motivated you and made you realise your own potential. I did PR a couple of years ago and found the classes afterwards in particular to be very informative and helpful. Good luck with it all and please let us know how you get on. John😀

Even after the assessment I am feeling better already. Far more confident. This is the first face to face in my area since lockdown so delighted to have a spot. Hope you get yours soon x
