HiYeah anxiety can take a hold on you, sorry you have it pretty bad. Have you seen a Dr recently? You definitely need help to overcome this. We are all here to support each other so keep posting. 💜
I can sympathise …..in the short term can you try a distraction …..puzzle books , free on line crossword , free jigsaw( Magic Puzzles ) Try 5 finger breathing ….you tube by Jud Brewer.
Listen to you tube music …..Weightless by Marconi Union ( the video with the feather picture, no adverts ) recognised as good for anxiety .
Try pursed lip breathing ….in gently through the nose, out gently through the mouth with pursed lips for a slightly longer time ….gently.
In the longer term , maybe ask your health professional for help.
I find meditation useful….try Jon Kabat Zinns videos.
I downloaded Jud Brewers book….Unwinding Anxiety when it was on special …he recommends meditation .
One tip of his was to open your eyes wide for ten seconds when very anxious ….I haven’t tried that yet when having a panic attack.
The BLF website is good , and No panic have a website too.
Best wishes …..keep in touch .
I suffer with anxiety but while in hospital I had a really bad anxiety attack, my consultant has put me on Lorazepam and it's made such a difference. I'm not saying this would be the right thing for you, but have a word with your GP even if it's a phone consultant. Please let us know how you get on have a lovely day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx
I suffer from Colitis and find I get very anxious and stressed when I have to go to an appointment, seems to set me off in repeated visits to the toilet so I do understand where you are coming from. I have read the reply from Knitter and I don't think I can add anything to that very good advice. I always try to leave home allowing extra time before my appointment time to be able to get to the toilet when I get there. Fortunately for me I am not to far from my doctors, dentist or hospital so I can get to the toilet before my appointment time. Do hope that you can get some sort of coping mechanism in place, remember you are not alone, always someone on here to chat to and will be supportive. Best wishes and take care. xx
I'm sorry you feel so bad. I hope some of our lung buddies' suggestions will help.
Hi khaleesi16
Might I suggest breathing exercises. You tube has many that can help. Here is one I like. youtu.be/QeP4Ghi6Lko.
Also posture posture posture. Roll shoulders forward, tuck in diaphragm, breath deeply.
Good luck.
