Been taking ibuprofen for a few days because of toothache. My throat feels rough and scratchy today. Could this be caused by the ibuprofen tablets?

Bronchiectasis and ibuprofen
I doubt it, sounds like a sore throat but have a look at the side effects on the leaflet though and have an antiseptic gargle just in case.
I think that it's unlikely too. Hope your throat and your tooth soon improve.
I know others disagree or have never been given this information. I was told by a Doctor never take any tablets that end in FEN. Ie. Nurofen Ibuprofen etc. Only take Paracetamol..if you have COPD. My husband takes nurofen as he has never been told this. I never take it only Paracetamol. Dont know the reason for this and I am not saying it is correct, just quoting what my doctor said. Hope you feel better soon xxSheila 👍💕
Yes I was told only take paracetamol
I used to take Ibuprofen every day to help my spinal stenosis (arthritis of the spine) until I found NSAID's can be a cause of mouth ulcers, which I also suffer from. If you look up causes of mouth ulcers on line, you will find what these can be. It includes an ingredient found in most toothpastes; SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate). I now look for toothpastes without that inclusion. So, don't know if sore throat and mouth ulcers are related??
Shortly after I first moved here 8 years ago I had toothache. I found ibuprofen in the supermarket! Only 50p! I thought it couldn’t be proper medicine if you can buy it in a supermarket so I took it and became quite unwell. By chance a few days later I had an appointment and the nurse was concerned about my deterioration and at some point I said about buying ibuprofen and she said I should stop taking it and not take it again. She said it doesn’t affect everyone but can affect people with respiratory problems.
Hi Nancy, could you contact your pharmacist and ask their opinion? Hope you’re well soon
🤔I doubt it. Drink plenty of fluids Maybe your toothache is spreading x
I must admit I only use paracetamol but rarely but when I do have a sore throat I eat a low dose aspirin but let it linger in my throat as it works as a topical relief, I love the taste a bit like strong sherbet from childhood days 👍🏻👍🏻
