Change of moisturiser

Hi just want to give oxygen using folks a heads up. Collected my prescription today, when l got home noticed moisturiser had been changed ! Being suspicious checked ingredients and there was a warning saying flammable. Contacted health centre. Apparently they changed all moisturisers to this new one and had not taken people who use oxygen into consideration. New cream was called EPIMAX oatmeal cream. They were very good and immediately changed prescription back to old one only problem being it means another 16 mile trip to pharmacy and due to roadworks no parking outside with walking being a challenge at the moment l am not relishing extra journey

Good job you noticed the error. Pete uses Epimax on his legs but isn’t on oxygen.

Could your pharmacy deliver your prescription? It would save all the hassle. Xxx

Hi Sassy . No we are too far out of town for them to deliver. Normally l plan visits like a military mission calling first to make sure they have prescription ready and arriving early so l can easily get parking space. However life does like to throw us these little curve balls

That’s a shame. Hope you’re able to park. Take care xxx

Nothing surprises me anymore! That could have been a fatal mistake! I hope they had the foresight at the health centre to check out others using this moisturiser at the same time being on oxygen. Perhaps they should put up a big sign in their working area to remind them in the future. Good job you were on the ball!

I am hearing of more and more instances where mistakes are being made, often just due to communication issues within the surgery or hospital. It seems to me that people 'in the back office' make a lot of decisions without considering 'those on the ground' who are involved with the people the changes may affect.

Good for you for spotting the mistake and getting it sorted. Hopefully, you will have saved others from going through it.

Shame about the journey - but at least you won't be using a potentially dangerous product.

Very true. The one thing my condition has taught me is that clinic wise you are on your own. You have to rely on yourself to be proactive and question and research everything very little is actually offered. With one exceptional difference my physio team. They have got me through some very dark times gave me hope when l thought there was none. Their advise and support is priceless. So let's hear it for the physios who are often overlookef
