The sensible thing for the CEV to do is to ignore Boris and the lifting of restrictions and carry on shielding. I think that another variant is just around the corner waiting to surface, if it has vaccine escape properties, shielding will help protect us. By the time it is sequenced and found to be of concern it will be too late to stop it from spreading, as happened with the Delta variant and the Alpha variant before that.

Hi 2greys, that’s exactly what I will be doing, wether the Government care to admit it or not they are now going headlong for Herd Immunity, we’re probably quite safe at the moment if we’re double vaccinated, but the way it’s spreading now more vaccine evading variants are more or less inevitable.

They seem to be happy to throw schoolchildren under the bus, it’s all very well saying they don’t get seriously ill, but they are extremely efficient spreaders and they can also suffer from Long Covid, but I suppose that’s a price worth paying to help their friends and paymasters.

The trouble is you have no idea how safe we are? No antibody test is performed as we are still in the 'experiment of vaccine' here and there is no evidence on its effects as the initial trials for EU( Emergency Use) were conducted on the healthy and young! So why in the gods of gods is he hell-bent on herd immunity when we are facing all of this and the crashed now-defunct skeletal system of healthcare that is only able to offer care to covid patients? The best plan forward is to await the data from the old and sick which is why I feel he is sacrificing the vast majority of us, or gambling with us in this...we are pivotal to the outcome on experiment 2 his ..you can toss coins in the air, but the vulnerable? I think not..this is an open race to bottom time, and yes masses of variables will ensue from the Indian variant once its out and rampant in the public domain, looks to torments and footie..but it was his option to spread by allowing Indian variant into the UK at 26 thousand level and initiate the cull...sorry its how I see it. The darn thing is everywhere now!

I took the route of private antibody test, as it may be deemed I am not fit enough to have the booster and after what I experienced I will probably defer. ..anyway. Something to note, if your stage 4 lung disease or transplant patient you do not make antibody to vaccine or a minimimun amount not enough to protect..I have 2 patients in USA both double lung transplanted both in receipt of Pfizer and neither have had antibody call...that levels out a massive playing field in this its not just cancer patients its all patients who are right now facing a grim and continued grim future living with covid its variants and the hell of shielding, most of the people in severe ranges cannot mix at levels due to not being aware of level of protection offered via vax, and that must be remembered in this right now..until they confirm we are covered and the question is why was that not done as pro quo after vaccination?

Lung transplant patients alike immune deficient and cancer are now being advised to continue shield ...as the vaccine is not offering enough by way of antibody to protect..I expect that the severe lung patients are in the same ring fence. ..

I’m with you on that. I’m sure there’s another one around the corner. I remember being told as a child that one day there would be superbugs. What a wise teacher she was. She also said that in the future the way to make Money would be in leisure. I can’t believe she had such foresight.

I quite agree, but unfortunately many of us are not able to shield or work from home and have to go to work to keep a roof over our heads. I have had to more or less throw a tantrum to be ‘allowed’ to wear a mask in my poorly ventilated primary school classroom which is too small for social distancing, even if I were allowed to insist on it. The recklessness of our leaders is staggering. Thank you 2greys for your reliable feed of information!

Thank you for link 2greys , hope Boris does listen to this . I like many others will continue to sheild as much as possible to spite having had my jabs. I imagine this winter to be a trying time as I am sure some other variant will crop up in the not to distant future. Restrictions in public places should stay in force is my opinion.

Wow that was brilliant. Just what we were saying yesterday. They even picked up about people with long covid should be paid if they are home ill. I just hope a lot of people sign the backing in The Lancet. Especially medical people. I certainly believe in mask wearing being mandatory unless you have a medical reason not to wear it. I definitely wouldn’t go anywhere if I couldn’t wear a mask. Ok I’m the odd one out because in my building I’m the only one still wearing a mask. If I walk down the High Street people aren’t wearing masks. There may be one or two that have masks as neckerchiefs. What is the point of that? I went into a store the other day and they weren’t wearing masks. Why? ! And why weren’t they sent outside to put one on? It’s unbelievable. I didn’t think the rules have changed yet. And I hope they dont yet either.

Thank you for this 2greys. I now feel that my worries, in spite of the vaccine roll out and being doubled vaccinated are justified.

The vaccine minister was on the Andrew Marr show this morning and showed no indication of a u turn with regard to 19 July. He said that the public will be expected to continue wearing masks but that the requirement to do so will be lifted.

Also on the programme was Professor Sir David Spiegelhalter of Cambridge University who said that it is predominantly older (55yrs +) people who are dying from covid now in spite of having been double vaccinated.

I will continue to shield or go out with extreme caution. I am supposed to go to a very busy health care centre in September for a 6 minute walk test for an accurate assessment of oxygen therapy needs. I have yet to decide if I will keep the appointment but when I expressed my concerns to the respiratory nurse who saw me at home last month, she simply shrugged and said ''you are vaccinated''. Reassuring? No!

Boris is either on a mass genocide program or this is a complete and utter hoax...for me as a lung patient suffering for over 14 yrs here in a Country unable to prescribe a decent targeted treatment for a genetic lung, liver disease the is readily available to every European Country including POLAND the question of public health is now way overdue ? We are being cheated out of and driven into zero health care, as the plan I think is to privatize the NHS and has been for decades, with each decade getting steadily worse than the last.

This cannot continue, COVID 19 crashed our healthcare totally..! for lung patients in stage 4 this has basically put an end to having vial monitoring as lung patients, vital committed care and treatment checks, all have disappeared here in the past yr and half..and this will continue.

I was deferred for a double lung transplant in April 2020 resigned to attend Oct 2020 enter wave 2 ..impossible with a 300-mile travel and only me able to stay in Hospital for overnight which would mean that my husband stayed out in the public for that night way to risky and promptly canceled again!! I am despairing at the situation now, totally. I feel that the chance of transplant after 14 yrs of my own endeavor to keep me stable has been in total vain..I feel angry and betrayed totally! I was diagnosed at end stage stage 4 disease and with gritted effort on a unbelievable scale I managed to survive the 2 yr prognosis to death aged 46 I turned 60 in June, I have proof and test results should anyone doubt me..I have proved countless times what is able to be done with lungs that have needed transplant for 12 yrs and I continue to use the regime of daily walks with a hope I finally get a transplant or treatment during this fiasco and shameless take over bid at 'all our health care' its high time the patients rose up and protested as using the NHS up close and personal is the only way to have witnessed the slide into decented chaos we are now all facing today...and it will be set to get grimer under this heinous regime we have landed in with covid.

There is no antibody testing after the vax, I asked. I paid privately so I at least got a result..as I had assumed this low in lung function immunity would have been a big issue, I have done 2 yrs in shielding in Sept as I go into shielding every Winter alike most severe lung patients living in a densely populated country with little education in germs and spread..I have had monster infections including the very worst in 2019 which both GP and Consultant suspected could of been c19 as it was confirmed to have been in UK then, by both of them! Obviously, the serology test came back neg as it appears to disappear out of the system once we had it..which I do question as our body is a memory bank of infection! ..not this one! I have had 2 other pneumonia and countless viral encounters, I use azithromycin and have done for around last 4 yrs..which I think helps, but helps more abstaining from human beings..so shielding is not a issue but after going through experimental vax programs and finally looking forward to getting to sit outside again for a coffee (simple pleasure) has now evaded me again and I had an adverse reaction to the 2nd jab Pfizer so in bigger trouble now than pre the vax, surely it would of been better to conduct the 1st experiment and haul the data in on vax before the onslaught of freedom day, whatever the hell that means? ...its vile, cruel, and heinous what is happening here for the sick and old..who have become an afterthought. Johnson has zero regards for anything he has so far done or committed and I do believe its murder..the millions in backlogs here will perish as well they know, left uncounted in the covid fiasco..that is my belief..I never thought I would feel like this but I do and today I regret bitterly I never left this country as a young woman when I had many ..many chances to do so. I have lost family members to bed blockers and lack of surgeons here including my greatest supporter my beloved Mother who died in 2014..in A & E ..so please forgive me that I am not fully blaming this on the horrors in charge much as I do, I merely think they are finishing the job of our public care and covid was a good as excuse as any...wishing you all the best and hoping we all come through it...we darn well deserve to!
