As some of you know I have had a few problems trying to get my heart and lungs sorted after a tablet change. Which meant a visit to A&E and then Ambulatory Care on 3 occasions. My GP dropped my heart tablets down as they were making me feel very unwell and I had swelling in my legs. The lower tablets have reduced my leg swelling and I have sort of felt normal (My Normal) The bad news is I am back in AF and feeling very tired I am beating anywhere between 57 and 158 bpm. My Left hand and wrist was swollen on Sunday to such an extent I had to remove my watch as my hand went numb with it on!
My last visit to the AC the doctor in charge told me that they will get me into a cardiologist ASAP and also in for a Bike Test? I was told that I would be cc'd in to the letter to the GP's also, but have not had anything as yet? I decided today to call the AC unit and see if they have any dates for me. To be told they cannot see any appointments at all for me to see anyone? After asking why I called they went away and then told me they can see me week Tuesday to see a cardiologist.
So once more I am in the slow lane until either my AF settles or they hopefully put me back on the tablets that seemed to work before. Guarantee now to get an appointment in the post tomorrow as it does seem different departments do not talk to each other!

I am sorry to hear that your time piece has been winding you up again. I don't know if your NHS Trust does the same as ours. Regardless of where one is seen or treated, the appointments are all handled at just one location. It also seems that they don't update the rest of the network. The network has to update itself.
They promised me that they would tell the lung doc that I will need another appointment but I can never get though to them to see if that was cancelled or they have me as a no show?
This is, unfotunately, typical. I have decided to always chase things up after two weeks. Always very polite and just say I am ringing to make sure that letters have been written or whatever. After that I check with someone every week - say one week the surgery and the next week the hospital or whatever. We have to be pro active.
So sorry to hear of your predicament Offcut and you are right, different departments definitely don't talk to each other. I hope you get a cardiology appointment soon and get all this sorted out. Wishing you well. xxx
Me too. it seems like it is fine and then it all kicks off again. If it was doing it all at a steady pace it may not be so bad.
It does seem that their interpretation of ASAP is differing from yours...as for a bike test...would that be some kind of warped sense of humour on a Doctors part...
I do hope you begin to feel much better soon though...
I think I understand why they want it? I will be wired up for the heart and also have a mask for my breathing and then when they start the torture it will hopefully show which is causing me the most trouble. Or conclude it is both? One thing I am hoping they see is the sudden drop of oxygen that happens to me on exercise. On appointments once they get around to put the meter on my finger I am rested and not so bad.
I went up stairs today and I was 92% O2 but 175 BPM I am waking up as tired as I went to bed The PH is not helping as their helpline informed me this afternoon.
Seems the organisational side of nhs is very poor these days. I am defeated by the idea that a sevice that has a shortfall of billions, can be improved by hiving of services to private organisations, to make a profit How does that work ? I should think the clinicians get pretty fed up too. Do hope you get sorted out soon Offcut. Love Margaret x
I agree. I have rarely felt they do not care. But they do seem under pressure to reach targets over anything else which is were they seem to be losing the focus.
Sorry to hear you are having problems Offcut, but you seem to be coping with it yourself, hope all goes well and you feel better soon. Sorry I can't help in any way but best wishes for your appointment that now is on. Take care x
I have been lucky in that nearly all the departments in rbh have been in touch, it is when you go from one county to another. I am dealing with Royal Berkshire hospital and John Radcliffe in Oxford they are the ones who do not seem to communicate.
