.......I received a letter in the post inviting me to a free Lung Health Check along with a booklet explaining what it was all about.
It is a Lung Cancer Screening campaign. This is the first time it has been offered in my area, presumably it will be offered UK wide as a new campaign. It is not before time as the sooner Lung Cancer is discovered and treated the more successful survivability becomes.
For my part I rang the phone number, provided to make an appointment, and explained that I was already on a Lung Cancer pathway. The operative then did the usual identity check and passed it on to her manager, for confirmation, and told that they would remove me from their database. Yet my NHS number was already on the letter, rather an inefficient process as my cancer status is on my records. Still, it is good news that at last a screening process for Lung Cancer is now in place.
