Hi hope everyone has had lovely Easter. Think I have had to much time on my hands as started to research y illness and maybe not such a good idea. Apparently if I was in my seventies outlook not to bad 🤔 but as only 18 it looks like I might not need to invest in a good pension, 😂but as mum says nothing is guaranteed in life so we just need to enjoy every day as it comes so might just tuck into all those Easter eggs 😊😊sorry for the moan but just one of those days.

Hi Pokermon, your mum’s right of course nothing is guaranteed. I hope you’re enjoying Easter and the eggs.😃
Here for you whenever you’re having one of those days.....or even when you’re not. Xxx😍💖
Oh my lovely. No more research it always brings more worry than reassurance . I’m the same and always wish I hadn’t. Your mum is so very right. One day at a time and live in the moment. Your so young and have a lot of life to live ahead of you. Take every good day you have and make the most of it. When a bad day crops up give yourself a goal to help you get back to living your best life. Surround yourself with good and understanding friends and family and laugh often. Enjoy those chocolate eggs ❤️😊
Understand how you may be feeling Pokermon but try not to think too far ahead, even though taking each day as it comes isn't easy to do for some if us. Your mum is right and, in my experience, things never work out how we think they might. I hope tomorrow and the next days will be better for you xx
Hi Pokemon your mum is right , just live for today no need worrying about your pension at your age, just enjoy yourself. Likesassy I'm already to listen. Have a good day and take care 😊 Bernadette and Jack 🐕 xxxxxx
I appreciate what you say,but your mums right. Enjoy every day.PLEASE stay off google.

When I was six, before we had Dr Google to frighten us, the doctors wrote to my mother and told her that I would not be expected to survive my next pneumonia.Well here I am! Seventy years old, a full life, travelled the world, 2 children and 5 grandchildren and still giving it plenty.
Thanks to good self management of my condition, advances in drugs and treatment regimes and sheer bl....mindedness!
I was never allowed to regard myself as an invalid and I Live with my condition. I do not 'suffer' from it. I hate that expression.
Your Mum is right to say live every day as it comes. Also make your plans and follow your dreams.
Things look good for you. There are so many advances coming along to improve so much for you.
My grandaughter has type 1 diabetes. When I was a child treatment was difficult and the outcome uncertain. Now thanks to science and technology she has a hi tech sugar reader and a pump which delivers her insulin by 'talking' to the reader. Her life is as normal as that of her friends, given that she lives it in a slighty different way.
You are doing great. You are going to do even better. So much love.💖
Wonderful reply LP. If you adopt her 'can do' attitude Pokermon you can't go far wrong xx
Great reply Littlepom, you’re doing so well and I’m sure you’ll continue on that path for the future. Xxx😘
At the risk of sounding a bit trite and inspirational Facebook meme-ish, none of us know what hand we’ve been dealt. With all the improvements in cf care, lots of people tell me I should be excited for Bod (she’s 13) getting the opportunity to live a full life. On my dark days, I want to tell them in far less polite terms to go away and shut up because they don’t know what they’re talking about beyond what they’ve read in a newspaper or seen on Google, most of which unfortunately doesn’t apply to Bod. They’re few and far between, but I have them. On my better days, I do the same as I do for my own health (which isn’t particularly great either), and live in the day. Bod might make it to 20, she might not. I might make it to 40, I might not. No one knows. No one has a crystal ball. When you realise that and really get your head around it, all any of us has is right now. Someone without any health issues at all could get hit by a car tomorrow.
So, as we’ve established that none of us know what’s around the corner, good or bad, I would definitely advise still investing in that pension. Could potentially end up kicking yourself otherwise!
Good advise about the pension Pokermon. By the time you reach a ripe old age the government will be dishing out peanuts 😉 xx
Oh bless you pokermon! I really understand what you mean actually!!! Definitely don’t research!! You are individual and treatments and medicine are advancing all the time. Lol...I feel a bit the same with my health! I haven’t hardly invested in a pension although have savings. But I guess the sensible thing would be to invest in one as and when you start your working life!
Like Charlie said, none of us know when it’s gonna be our day!
♥️😘🤗

You need to be SO careful researching on the internet. Many sites are not reputable and will give incorrect information. As others have said no one knows what is around the corner. Plus scientists are developing new treatments for all sorts of conditions all the time.
Absolutely no harm in investing in savings. Starting young means will get better deals than waiting.
Take each day as it comes and live the life you have as best you can and enjoy it every day. X
Hello Pokermon, I hope your bad days are few and far between. The all day conference some of us bronchies went to (virtually) recently emphasised how much research is being done into various lung conditions. It also emphasised the importance of self help (phew- what discipline needed). Got the impression that you're going to need that pension. Any way enjoy the day and I hope the Easter eggs were delicious.😋😋😋
According to what I've read on the internet, I should be dead now! Still going strong, though and currently feeling better than ever!
There is some interesting stuff to read on there and it can be helpful, but there is also some stuff posted that isn't published in the medical journals etc because it doesn't meet the research standards. Let's be honest, these days, anyone can post something online that looks pretty impressive but is actually total rubbish!
When I was first diagnosed with lung problems I asked my GP what life expectancy I was looking at. 'Should I go ahead and book a cruise sooner rather than later?' I asked, rather flippantly. His answer, 'I have lost two good friends this year. One was expected to die and the other one was fit and healthy but died in an accident. My advice to everyone is not to put things off that you want to do as no one knows how long they've got.'
At that point, I stopped worrying about life expectancy as he was absolutely right.
So, as others have said, get out there and live your best life! The pandemic isn't helping you to do that at the moment, but there is light at the end of the tunnel and we'll soon all be out there strutting our stuff again!
xx Moy
Hi Pokerman. I can understand you wanting to know more about your illness but, I really don't think trawling the net will help. There is so much bad information out there and it is easy to read some bad things and think that they will all happen to you. Anything you want to know, ask your consultant they know you and your condition the best. You are more than welcome to come on here and moan anytime. We all do that at times. Keep safe. John
I was diagnosed with COPD about 12 years ago (in my early 50s) and the 1st thing I did was research my life expectancy! After a few months I calmed down and started taking life one day at a time. I take regular exercise and my aim is to stay well enough for long enough that someone comes up with a treatment. Stay positive and take care. Stephen
We all have bad days, well I do. My brother has multiple disabilities. When he was just born my read in a nursing book, "a speedy death is to be wished for". She burnt the book, ate a bowl of sugar cubes, (don't ask🤣) and 60 years later he's living an independent life in a beautiful flat. His life hasn't always been easy but he lives it to the full, still finding time to plague our little sister and me.😂 Please take heart. Sending ❤.
If you do wish to understand your diagnosis more sometimes it does help to research it.
As an adult this is your choice, however I would suggest reading information on BLFs home page, blf.org.uk/ and NHS choices pages in the first instance and possibly Patient UK site.
I suspect your mother said what she did in an attempt to protect you from overly concern just to encourage you to enjoy your days without the worry of the health issue.
Hello Pokermon. You enjoy those Easter eggs and enjoy life the best you can. The way the country is going with you being so young and the retirement age going up all the time. You could possibly be dead before you start drawing a pension anyway So i wouldn't worry about it. Enjoy life and spend it. Brian
Hi pokermon. I hope you’ve eggs to munch on and your mum is right- nothing is certain. Leave the research as it only fuels negative thoughts and you are too young for those. Take care. Have you had your 2 covid jabs now? Xx
