This painting I did for Easter - I am not trying to offend or convert anyone. It is just a painting.
I would have liked to post on the day , but probably not many people would be on here, Easter Sunday or Saturday - So tonight it is.
A bit eerie as there is no sun, the light hidden mainly by Mount Calvary. So I avoided much shading.

Yes I have heard of them. I wondered what you ment . Fantastic acting from cate Blanchett and the costumes are phenomenal . I like period drama like downtown abbey as well.
Yea my mistake. - I like Downton Abbey and I love the Tudors series, The Duchess wasa one of film I liked that one.
I wanted to watch the duchess , but it seems sad she gives her baby away.
She was heartbroken Issy -She had a baby Eliza and immediately is forced to give the baby up to Grey's family. This was from The Dukes command. He was cruel with her,
Probably my favourite painting Ern, of all those you've done. Great symmetry and fabulous colours, particularly the grading in the hillside. I love the 'boomerang' shapes in the foreground, possibly little stone ridges. There is a lovely balance of colour across the canvas, almost like it's blessed with a holy glow. And I guess the light is from the cave ...a phosphorus glow around the risen Christ. And I like the stone which has miraculously moved to be reveal the opening. I used to wonder, had anyone had a camera 2000 years ago, would any photo of Jesus have come out as just a phosphorus glow. Well done sir!

That's very coincidental as yesterday I went to the hospital and enroute there were three crosses in a field on a hillside near where I live ,they are put up every year but normally later in the week but the weather conditions are very different to your painting.
I deed Boxermad - It is a coincident three crossed in our countryside. .Yes the Holyland weather is a lot warmer than here, The timing, this was really the only time to post this,

Really beautiful depiction of the true meaning of Easter, which is so sadly forgotten by our secular society l have been a committed Christian for 39 years. I know He is with me each day and despite my chronic lung condition, He gets me through each and every day. He is my rock and my constant companion. May you have a blessed Easter Ern.

Thank you Ern it's a great painting and something draws my eye to the crosses. Reading other members replies make me envious of those with a belief. I feel we are here then we're not. But know if I did have a faith it would of helped me through a loss that happened to me 6 years ago that I still grieve over every day. Don't mean to bring the mood down but just to say it's brilliant that so many people still have a strong faith in this cynical world we live in ❤️🙂xxxx
I always enjoy your paintings, they often trigger an emotion and this one does too. For me it portrays the desolation that Christ must have felt when he believed his father had forsaken him.
A very touching painting. I think whatever faith we are, or none, we all need to take time out to meditate on how to lead better lives. xxx

that is lovely and so sad at the same time, i must admit i am a jesus fan and i dont mind who knows it either, to me its like a comforting cushion and what the poor man went thru was horrendous, bless you 007 and you Jesus.

At first glance the landscape may look desolate or "eerie" as you say, however, the glow from within the tomb is awe-inspiring, and full of promise.
