Raise vitamin D level quick
I realise you’re trying to help others, but caution is required with supplementation just as it is with medication. Current medical guidance regarding the safe dose of D3 is an equivalent of no more than 4000iu per day, total. Whilst significantly higher doses have been used under study conditions, and have found popularity with some nutritionists and other (sometimes highly qualified) professionals, it’s important to note that all participants in D3 studies utilising doses above 4000iu have had no underlying health conditions of any description, with the exception of one study looking at high dose safety that included a cohort of obese individuals. That’s not the case for the vast majority of individuals frequenting this forum, who often have significant health problems, and vitamin D toxicity as a result of excess levels can cause serious health issues of their own.
There was a randomised trial dating from the summer of 2019 that was conducted over 3 years and looked at improvements to bone health at doses of 400iu a day, 4000iu a day, and 10000iu a day, and showed that the 10000iu group had double the reduction of bone mineral density over the course of the study compared to the 4000iu group. Meaning, the group taking the dose above the current max safe daily limit were actually biologically worse off in terms of the amount of bone density they lost. This was the direct opposite of the expected findings, but I believe it’s the most recent completed study into the efficacy of high dose D3 supplementation. Here’s a link to a précis, but the study is available online in full if you’d like to read it:

Bottom line: the current 4000iu limit is medically accepted for a reason. Anyone wishing to take more than this should speak to a qualified medical professional, and fully appreciate that whilst further studies are required, the most up to date research suggests exceeding this limit may actually have a negative impact rather than a beneficial one.
I am currently on 1000iu prescribed by my GP only other supplement I take is vit C as because of my ibs I do not eat a lot of fruit
