Oxygen levels after pneumonia

I was discharged from hospital one week ago having suffered a bout of pneumonia and a RSV I was treated in isolation. I know it will take weeks to recover, but I’m concerned about my oxygen level which hovers around 87-89. Any advice?

I am also not long out of hospital with pneumonia. When I got home my oxygen levels hovered about 88. But over the last two weeks at home its up to average of 93.( which is about average for me.) Although some days a bit higher. My biggest issue is exhaustion and extreme tiredness. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Thanks for that. I’m thinking it will just take time. I know what you mean about the exhaustion. Slept quite well last night - got dressed and made myself a coffee this morning and I’m done! Your reply has given me hope that improvement will come in time. Thanks.

I would contact your health professional today and tell them your concerns .

Also this site ALUK has a helpline .

Best wishes .

I don't know if you have COPD. I was in hospital recently and was told they don't like oxygen level too high with COPD. Normal is 88/91. I caused a problem at home as thought my oxygen was low so used my oxygen. My levels went up to 95/96 which I thought was great. Ended up hospitalised extremely ill as it causes depression, loss of concentration and many other side effects . Most serious affects a part of the brain at back of head which can be irreversible and causes confusion. Thank goodness it was picked up and I don't use my oxygen now. My oxygen ranges from 88/92 Sometimes even 93 and this I am told is great fir my Copd. xx.Sheila 💕👍

Thanks - that’s very reassuring. I’ll try not to fixate too much on my levels - just do what I can and build up gradually (hopefully!)

93 would be lovely! Think I just need to be patient.

Hello and I hope you are soon feeling better. I have COPD and am told my sats should be 88-92, but I obviously don't know what yours are usually. If you are worried, speak to your GP or respiratory nurse. xx

Thanks - usually anything from 92-96 so this is low for me. From others’ responses guess I’ll just have to be patient.
