New Zealand detects first community virus case in two months.

New Zealand health officials on Sunday confirmed the first case of Covid-19 in the community for more than two months, sparking urgent contract-tracing efforts north of Auckland.

A 56-year-old woman who recently returned from Europe tested positive 10 days after completing a compulsory two weeks in managed isolation, although she had noticed symptoms several days before getting tested.

This is suggesting that perhaps a 14 day quarantine period is not nearly long enough, noticing symptoms a week after completing the 14 days.. As Dr John says "follow the evidence".

This comes after the UK lowered the period of quarantine from 14 days to 10 days!

That 14 down to 10 days is outrageous, foolhardy & dangerous

That's quite a worrying development that someone can test positive after such a long time. Until now in my understanding people develop the Virus within two weeks of coming into contact with it. That at least seemed to put a kind of limit on things. This could change things though admittedly at the moment it's only one case of this happening.

Hi 2greys and it must be the worst nightmare for New Zealand after being the "pin-up, poster nation" who had controlled and suppressed the virus with minimal deaths etc. A warning to other countries so all we can do is wait for Boris to get behind his lectern and mumble his way through vetted questions and retreat back into hiding, lol. (I'm being facetious).Again thanks for the link👍.
