So beginning of November rushed into hospital on a 999 temperature of 42 Thinking my husband and l are on top of Mount Everest dancing except he turned out to be a lama in a top hat and pink tutu ...........with an abscess on my liver , blocked bile ducts , kidney infection and sepsis , so close to kicking the bucket ......again . Home again and still pottering , no driving, walking on own, tiredness unbelievable and it starts .... we have to large ( understatement ) cats , one who likes to sleep under my side of the bed so l first thought ‘ omg shut up you stupid thing ‘ leaning forward to check him l thought l was being strangled , it wasn’t the cat it was me , *ugger ! The noise has got so loud now it wakes my husband up , if l laugh l cough until lm reaching and in all lm fed up with the aching joints, tiredness, squeaking mice in my chest and being woken up listening to the British light orchestra tuning up to Beethoven’s five on a wet afternoon in December .

By the way lm 64....3/4 and a female who has 100% never drunk , never smoked yet had just about every condition you can think of except aids and hepatitis. My G .P. Is now ordering an MRI and breathing tests ASAP ......while l wait for the other tests from leaving hospital ..........anything else want to infect......lodge....take up residence or generally body sit in the mean time you know where l am ......sqeak ......sqeak .

Ok, now I’ve closed my mouth after reading your post........it’s good to meet you. Thank goodness you have a sense of humour, you need one! How do you cope with everything life throws at you?

I hope nothing else decides to take up residence and things do improve somewhat for you.

Wishing you the very best. Xxx👍💖

Oh my goodness what a time you’ve been through if your son is anything like mine it might be a long wait for coffee.

Rest as much as you can, it really does make a difference. You need time to get over such serious problems.

Love your sense of humour

Love and hugs

Hi and welcome. My Godmother had an abscess on her liver many years ago and almost died on the operating table. I remember that she was such a long time regaining her health afterwards. I hope that the tests your doctor is arranging get to the bottom of your ongoing problems. Best wishes for an improvement soon.

I know what you mean about squeaky chest, mine has an imitation of a creaking door at present. You must be exhausted with the liver abscess.its really hard when you have loads of things wrong,it’s hard to know what causes what.

Cats ,well I have a large grey cat who appears to have some issues.

He likes to sleep on my shoulder, regularly manages to give me a dead arm, is generally high profile when Idont need him to be.

I hope you soon start to feel a little improved .take it easy x

My two like to sleep on top of me and at 28 lbs each its a bit like being smothered , Treacle my smaller cat likes to lay around my head like a fur hat squashed between my head and the bed headboard and Toffee big boy like to lay full on me ...paws round my neck his head under my chin and the rest of him stretched out all the way down me his back paws resting on my ankles ......no duvet or heating needed ...and the both snore !

Oshgosh profile image
Oshgosh in reply toBarclay1560

Thank goodness he’s not a Maine, but he’s substantial enough. I dont know why he feels he is entitled to the pillow. He also snores.it sounds as though you don’t have to spend much on heating.I hope you’re feeling even slightly better.

You need to be very kind to yourself.

I used to do some charity stuff, nothing too energetic, when I went on immunosuppressants Istopped,as i was advised to keep away from crowds etc.perhaps you could do your charity events, up in a supervisory capacity. Really really look after yourself.

A liver abscess is serious and will really take it out of you physically. You mind find it interesting to read the guidelines around pacing yourself.there are someon the lupus uk website.

I plan around me,I try to stop before I feel totally done in .

Planning and pacing are the key words.

I’m also in my 60s TIL illnesses hit 2 -3 years ago was always busy.

Now I have to accept/adapt to a different way of living,it’s been hard.be very kind to yourself x

Thank you all for your kind wishes , l did a bit to much today and so had to rest for a few hours again , l still can’t leave the house and definitely no driving .Im on so many replacement vitamins : iron.....vitamin D and calcium which give me the most awful indigestion , when testing my bloods they were appalled how low everything was and put it down to the sepsis depleting the lot .

Never mind soon be Christmas and a couple of days to forget everything going on in our bodies and enjoy the family .

Hello and welcome to the fold! Thank goodness none of your many ailments has robbed you of your sense of humour - you certainly need it! I could SO relate to your bit about the orchestra and the mice in your chest! Mine's quiet at the moment, but there have been many occasions that I've wondered what the hell the noise was and then found out it was me!

Recently, my husband was going through a period of having a noisy chest - it turns out he has fluid on the lungs due to a cardio problem. Anyway, being deaf in one ear means I have very poor idea of what direction sound is coming from. Half the time, I didn't know if it was me or him making the racket! I would hold my breath and if the noise continued, I knew it was him - if it didn't, then I would do whatever I needed to try and shut it up! Lol!

You've certainly had more than your fair share of medical issues one way and another. I hope things settle down for you soon and you feel well enough to drive and get out and about again. Meanwhile, keep posting on here! Your humour will be much appreciated.

xx Moy

Thank you MoyB , it’s interesting your husband had lung problems due to his heart l do hope it’s cleared now, l to have had lung problems in the past ( shadow on the lung ...none smoker ) plus l have one side of my heart enlarged which makes me wonder if it’s not playing up again , damage to lungs doesn’t always repair ....interesting , speaking to people like yourself helps as lm at my wits end knowing what to do , how much l should do around the house and why l keep getting great waves of utter exhaustion that knocks me off my feet for hours .....may be now lm in my mid 60s l should slow down a bit and do less of my charity events etc , which would be such a shame .☹️

Husband is on diuretics and pills for his heart at the moment and waiting for the cardio appointment to follow up the echocardiogram he had last week. The pills are making him feel much better (and his chest is quiet again - hooray!) so we just have to wait and see what comes next, if anything.

If you are really fatigued, just go with the flow for the time being. Rest whenever you need to and don't worry about doing stuff around the house (after a certain level, the dust doesn't look any worse!). Be kind to yourself. Get some ready meals in or order takeaways sometimes. Let others do stuff for you and be a lady of leisure if you can! The opportunity might not be there for long, so make the most of it now, while you have a good excuse. Lol!

Hopefully you will feel more up to doing stuff soon, but if you have a 'do nothing' day, so be it. You'll be in good company! xx

Hi Barclay1560 and nice to meet you! I'm going to go with #sassy59, when she says it a good thing you have still managed to hold onto your sense of humour! Otherwise it's all rather daunting. Keeping ordinary, everyday life stuff in order does make life's engine run a little smother, especially when you are waiting for test results etc etc. What more could a lady want, a lovely cup of hot coffee to kick start the day off. ( ok : - from your comments I feel I should warn you, that all sons are on a go slow today, with morning beverages being served a litle later than usual ☕!!)Do let us know how everything .😂😂😂goes, especially the time it took to get your coffee☕. My son has been late and thinks he can butter me up with a shortbread biscuit lol😂 😂. 🐿🌈.

Hello, welcome. You must be a strong lady to put up with all that stuff and keep your sense of humour. All you can really do is take it easy and let your family look after the house and pamper you. (I'm still trying to train mine.) Hope your body will gradually start to recover, but it does take time, and it always seems too ******** long. Hope the mice will clear off. Not my favourite animals after we had an invasion in the larder. Must be infinitely worse to have them in your chest. Keep posting, so we all know how you're getting on.xxx

Oh gumdrops .....mice and string instruments kept waking me up all night so now shattered ☹️ Wanted to do all my Christmas presents up as one of my sons friends ( his carer) has come to take him out today , but lm going to have to wait a while , my constantly feeling sick has come back like some crazed elderly lady intent on getting to the front of the queue on sales day so she can grab all the long thermal knickers before anyone else gets a look in !🙃 I had a wonderful surprise on Sunday , our village co-op had put me forward for an award and the manager came round with a Christmas hamper for me .

Let me explain .....when covid first hit in March l closed down my cake making company and opened up a meals on wheels / care for the elderly , supported by the local police and council l cooked a full meal with dessert , snacks , fresh fruit and naughty items for 35 elderly people in our four villages who had no one to look after them aged from 70-98 years old l called on them everyday feeding them and getting items for them or their pets and checking them for any signs of illness ( ex BNA nurse ) l did this for 6 months until l started feeling unwell , but by then most of my people had got back on there feet again.

By September l was unwell , then October l got so l couldn’t walk to the car when November hit .......all he’ll let loose which is when l was hospitalised.

So now lm being cooked for.......feels very strange strange , l really miss doing my rounds seeing all my people , nattering to them and hearing about what they have been doing each day , l became great friends with a number of them and my husband had loads of calls after they discovered l was unwell , which was so kind of them .

Not what you're looking for?
