Lockdown, what lockdown?

I had yet another CT scan this evening, my daughter took me in her car. The amount of traffic was horrendous, people were definitely not staying at home.

I never saw any police going there or back, a ten mile trip each way. I can only assume they were attending huge demonstration in London.

4 hrs of footage of that demo from Subject Access:

I don’t know if people genuinely think the rules don’t apply to them or if they just think they won’t get caught. I hope your scan went ok.

Westminster City Council don't think that the rules apply to them - sending workmen into our homes during lockdown.

Some don’t even get 1 to one social distancing. Two mothers at the school where my daughter teaches had a proper fisty cuffs - punching and scratching faces in front of the children. There’s just no hope.

I hope your scan results go well 2G.

How embarrassing mums behaving like that. Did any teachers see that? The children must be horrified.

Yes both teachers and children. The Police were there very quickly, with it being a school with adults fighting on the premises.Cx

I take my daughter to work and back every day. Looking at the risk factors I though the biggest risk to her and my wife and I was public transport. She is protected at work by PPE, glass screen etc but the bus was crowded, no ventilation etc. We have a set procedure for picking her up and decontamination when she get home. Up until lockdown traffic had slowly picked up. Since lockdown it as doubled and there is not much difference now to the traffic pre pandemic. Why so much traffic puzzles me but it is obvious that more traffic is on the roads.

My last 'outing' was in the middle of August for a PET scan. I had assumed that it would be very quite as in the last lockdown. It was as you say "not much difference now to the traffic pre pandemic". The pandemic has gone on too long and people have become extremely complacent.

There were some quite violent scenes in that demonstration that could have sparked off a full blown riot.

I might add that not only were people not wearing masks I also saw spotted quite a few members of the police not wearing their masks properly, not covering their noses or below their chins, with unmasked demonstrators shouting directly in their faces. Complacency to the virus shown on both sides of the fence.

I think the only people in lockdown are the people with health problems, the general public are treating this as a holiday and going shopping. Hope the scan went ok x

Hope your scan went OK, the lockdown only seems to apply to those who feel guilty enough to follow the instructions to the letter. however I am informed that lots more are wearing masks in my city . And cases are dropping.

I've just scanned along the video - that's an hour of my life I wont get back! Imagine being out for your exercise, wearing your mask like you're meant to, and getting caught up in that. Pretty frightening.

Hope you get best results possible from your scan 2G.

The video is an unedited view from an independent source of what it was really like, the few edited snippets shown on the news channels (if at all) would not represent the true atmosphere and reality of what was happening. As I have already said, I think a new winter of discontent is looming before us, it is happening worldwide as well. Imagine going into a shop and emerging from it into something like that?

First 2greys - good luck with the scan. I believe in your assumption that the police were probably in London AND doing very little to enforce the rules which we other mortals have to obey. It is quite shocking when we consider the amount of "raves", illegal gatherings and other disregards of the law that there have been so few arrests , prosecutions or fines. However, the police don't seem to have a problem handcuffing the daughter of an elderly care home resident and slinging her in the back of a patrol car.

I live just over the border, in what has always been a very busy town, from the Republic of Ireland (RoI). The RoI has been on a severe lockdown for several weeks now and one of the regulations is that no one may travel from one county to another. On any given day this town is teeming with RoI vehicles, some having travelled many miles. We know this from the registration plates on the vehicles. These people have an absolute disregard for the law and, more importantly, the health of the locals. What do the police on either side of the border do? NOTHING - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!

What is needed is the police to do their job and the courts to enforce the law with the imposition of hefty fines or imprisonment to try and stop these yobs. I do not wish to live in a totalitarian state but something must be done to curb the antics of these "people".

A little bit of common sense from the police wouldn't go amiss either.

Keep safe

DURING LOCKDOWN Westminister City Council have been sending up to 3 workmen into our homes. The way that they do this is by saying that construction is exempt! This is not a building site nor is the work being carried out for emergency purposes. Respect and adherence to the lockdown rules should work both ways. The powers that be appear to be able to do whatever they want with impunity. I hope that your scan results go well.

Of course, it is one rule for them and one rule for us. You do have the right to refuse them entry, they would need a court order that you can easily rebut on health grounds. With severe COPD you are classed as clinically extremely vulnerable, more than enough grounds.

Thanks for your reply. Not easy if you are a council tenant! After putting my foot down during the lockdown which will end on 2 December, I will no doubt have them bothering me again as they say they will take measures to protect vulnerables.

London should be in tier 3 now. These people are selfish.

We live near Bournemouth and the roads are as busy as they were before lockdown. In March they were empty.

I do not think we should have lockdown relaxation for Christmas. And that it would be easier for some people to accept that if others were not under better condtions, if every one was treated the same.
