Hi I have just sent in the forms for attendance allowance in but what I form to fill in!!!I do not feel confident about getting it because I look after myself its just my breathing that is bad and I use oxygen. Any advice for me if they ring me up.

Hello there, main thing to do if they ring you up is to emphasise the tasks that are impaired by your breathing, plus the difficulties of getting around with the need for oxygen. The fact that anything you can do is slower due to impaired breathing. You can only do things at your pace not how others peceive you should do it and that doing tasks worsens the breathing. Hope this helps good luck if they do ring up.

Hello M6leyland, Remember to tell them about your worst days. It's too easy to be brave and minimise your difficulties. I would have thought the oxygen proves that you qualify. It might help to write things down before they ring. Good luck. Alberta

Hello, Yesterday I received at letter from the DWP saying they may be in touch with my doctor, and others involved with my case and I may have to go for a Medical. If I do not hear anything in 8 weeks I should contact them. Today a received a letter saying I have been granted the lower amount of attendance allowance, which I am very pleased about they did not ring me I must have send all the details they needed. Thanks for advice

I'm so glad it was reasonably painless and, for them, speedy. Saves a lot of stress. xx Well done!

As with all form filling it can be a very stressful task. Not knowing your answers all i can advise if you get a phone call is, enlarge and expand your answers to ensure support. Do you have any outside help and can you expand on that. I applied for my mother years ago and got a phone call, it went well and was awarded straight away. Good luck
