Nhs bed at home rather large.

After heart problems added to sarcoid pulmonary fibrosis 3 weeks ago, I have had an occupational therapist to my home. She has sent me all sorts of aids , shower chair, bars to aid access to toilet, 2 types of trolley, etc .im not sure there is enough room for me in our flatlet. The main one however was a nhs bed which rises and falls. I recently found on bad days, I could not climb on my electric bed. It was too high. . so yesterday the new nhs bed arrived. However it is big. I can’t get my trolley round the bottom of the bed to my chair. Anyone know if nhs d beds for home care can come in different sizes, or solved a similar problem I need a rise and fall, but the other moves are not necessary at the moment. Thanks xx jo

Hi, sorry that I don't know if different sizes of beds are available but I do know that the electric hospital bed supplied to me is quite a bit longer than a standard divan length. I think it may be best if contact the occupational therapist and tell her about your problem. I hope that she can sort something out for you.

I agree with CDPO16. as an ex Occupational Therapist (2008 last time I annoyed a patient) may not be a different bed, but they can also look at alternative trolley. I did have a client once, where the bed took up a lot of room, so I put a rail on the bedroom wall, to allow for safety in walking round the bed, she only moved to the trolley, when there was space to do so. My entire working life was a bit like a jigsaw solver.
