Abnormal CT Scan - Final Update.

After several CT scans, 2 XRAYS and 1 PET SCAN - I finally have a result.

Sixteen Months of Hell on Earth finally has a result.

I have Emphysema, Heart Disease Rhythm and CHD

CKD Stage Three. Various Bone/Joint conditions, NOT RA. High then low thyroid, this is a pain of an illness, been hospitalised twice.

So Specialists finally conclude NO CANCER for which I am delighted. He mentions SCARRING do to Chest Conditions, also I have in my life been exposed to Cold Dust and Asbestosis. Also GERD which can allow vomit to enter lungs causing problems , tell me about it the times I have choke/coughed with just this,

Looking at this diagnosis I was told I had a scar on my lung in 1998 - So this is new scarring.

So what are my symptoms disregarding and COPD flare up which are not no worse than other years at the moment.

Breathless or Air Hunger is a problem -SPO2 in day not bad, with walk and sometimes at night drops. again can be quite low,

So have I got Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis? or just pulmonary fibrosis? I don't know. I have scarring on lungs from 1998 and don;t think this is connected/

Again I have clubbing of toes with the floating toe nails, anyone got that will know what I mean. and fatigue

So at least I know - Well no - Heart disease can cause that also.

Not much different to before all this - but hey I do not have cancer they say.

in short I am happy knowing that but now the quest for what I do have??

At least the dread has gone and after 16 months, I am back to square one..

Finally whatever - I do not have cancer, I had all the symptoms of the rare aggressive Pancoast Tumour, well thank God that is back in it's box.

I dreaded that but a moral here, never self diagnose, Google will drive you potty - I KNOW, I did not follow my own advice.

This CT Saga now ends, Sorry for the long boring post.

First time I’ve posted on this forum

This is great news regarding the dreaded C.

I am at the moment tying myself up in knots. I have self diagnosed myself with lung cancer all because of the wonderful Dr Google. I’m awaiting a result on a CT scan as they found a lesion on my liver and thanks to our friend Google ive convinced myself that I have lung cancer which has spread to my liver.

With the symptoms I’m having it continually comes back with that

Your post has helped me and probably lots more people to see a light at the end of a very dark tunnel

I thank you and I’m very pleased for you

I do hope you have relief from your other conditions

Glad you got back Tracy.

Not all lesions are cancer like in my case not all shadows are cancer, and I had two, spread over this year, but scars, no cancer.

it's hard but try not to worry, that makes a bad situation worse.

"Noncancerous, or benign, liver lesions are common. They don’t spread to other areas of your body and don’t usually cause any health issues. But some liver lesions form as a result of cancer.

"

I am going to post a link to that paragraph. Good luck Tracy :-)

Bless you thank you for that info. I’m trying to look on the bright side. The ultrasound was my first real test I had. It showed multiple gallstones which I’m hoping that is why I’m getting the pain and a liver lesion. Within a couple of days my dr referred me on the 2 week cancer pathway and I had ct 2 days ago. I smoked for 30 years packed it up just over 6 months ago but I’ve had chest pain on right hand side for a couple of years. Was too scared to go get help but because of the severe attacks from the gallstones I had no choice.

When you type in chest back and shoulder pain it comes back with Really awful results. So me being me I’ve got it in my head that it’s lung cancer and now spread to my liver.

Your post was so good to read. Made me think that maybe it can be something other than that x

It wasn’t a boring post. Sometimes google is great, and the internet can be a wealth of information. But it can also be alarmist, giving you only statistics and tales of woe, and contradictory, for most things you google you’ll get completely contradicting search results. Self diagnosis is a tricky thing, as most symptoms will fit a whole range of ailments. It’s good to know you don’t have cancer. Hopefully you will get a diagnosis of what it actually is. Sending you best wishes.

Hi, I think Google is problematic when the symptoms of a nasty disease copies a condition we already have - That got me and others, Thank's for reply.

Good news that you don't have cancer and I think many a person has self diagnosed from Dr Google- it's just too easy x Take care

My chest consultant told me not to Google after I'd scared myself to death several times! I have IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis ) stage 4 kidney disease and Anca Vasculitis. Re your scarring of the lungs many things can cause this but IPF causes significant crackling in the lungs. From what my GP says it is unmistakable. He once asked me if I wanted to listen to it. I remember being relieved that I hadn't got cancer as well!!

Interesting because my first scar was in 1998 and I had lots of crackle but COPD flare can also cause that, I was always at high risk from scar, mainly I smoked from 12 until 23 years ago, I also worked with Asbestos, Coal and silican as a young man. Then as a grower was in contact from fungus from acres of tomato's - However like Google I am guessing at causes, Thatnk you for your post

I smoked from being 19 to 42. I was married to a builder who worked with all the things you did,he was also a master plasterer. I breathed all that stuff in myself when washing his overalls and working in their builders yard etc. He eventually developed asbestosis and lost a lung. I also kept birds and spent a lot of time with a friend who had a parrot. None of these were found to be the cause, hence the title Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.Idiopathic means cause unknown.

I have Anca Vasculitis which can attack your lungs and other organs. This was only diagnosed this year and could have been the cause.

Ern007 in reply toAingeful

We kept birds also, budgies and cockatiels - 50 + - A lot of white powder from their

feathers made it hard to breath, one reason after years we had to get rid of them..

I don't know yet the cause of scarring as not received letter yet. His secretary read the oncoming letter and the jist was, no caner so discharge but scarring possible due to asbestos, smoking and possible acid from GERD which having low mobility in upper abdomen , acid can enter my wind pipe which it does.

However I have to be sceptical because of the time of my first scar - Also this scarring moved from L Apex to R Apex. - Day after my PET scan, hospital phoned me and told me that but, the secondary scarring is just never been mention since that day, My specialist in 1998 said from my COPD, I never will find out the cause,.

Ern007 , this is not a boring post it displays your concerns about time it takes to illiminate a cancer doubt. Happy for you that it is not cancer, now as you say its time to concentrate on what is wrong and the treatment needed. Sounds like it might still be some time before you get your health issues under control many of these things can only be managed not cured and with the corona virus still around that often just means telephone consultations. But you will eventually get things under control I am sure and thank you for the tip about not turning to Google. Hope you feel reasonably well right now to spite your ordeal. Have a lovely weekend.
