Stanley has been to the vets today hes been a poorly pup ...
So I had mentioned I took him from a bad situation on Friday ...
I was working gently towards taking him over the next few weeks ...
On Thursday he was bitten by the families other 90 kg dog.. I dont know the breed ..
Anyways long story short the puncture wounds weren't visible to the eye through his matted coat so we were unsure the damage that was caused...hes been fantastic till today on a sunny walk we went back to the van and he wouldn't jump in ..normally he does ..once home he took himself to a corner and slept but I knew something wasnt right ..he woke up shivery tail between his legs panting all the signs of a sick dog.. called the vets who said to bring him at 4 pm ...while waiting I sat with him wet his paws and ears to keep him cool..while doing this I could see pus leaking from his fur and it was then obvious hes got a wound under that bit ..
Update hes been checked antibiotic injection and more antibiotic tablets for the next 10 days ..along with paracetamol twice daily .
Hes fast asleep at my feet in his basket after being hand fed a boneless pork chop ..
I'm just a little peeved at the ex owner who had said I probably had been walking him too much and hes got a sprained muscle ..Stanley hasn't been walked for months all he had was a patio area to share with the other dog ...on our walks hes been both on and off lead but by god hes enjoyed those walks so far and will continue to do so when better ...
I wont repeat my reply but I feel better for telling her what I did ..π my rant is now over π§‘

bless his heart hope he's ok found this, Pork must be thoroughly cooked without any seasonings or additives before you offer your dog this meat. While pork is high in protein, it's also a rich meat that may cause indigestion. ... In addition, undercooked pork puts your dog at risk for trichinosis, a parasite infection that leads to gastrointestinal illness. I'm not being nasty it's just I found out the hard way years ago
Thankyou for that helpful advice it was cooked thoroughly under the grill nothing added to it . It wasnt undercooked as was tested by myself before feeding but thankyou again x
I feel the same my lovley totally two different people regarding dogs and pets in general but I'm happy hes with me and I will kick his bum ππ if he gives me anymore days like to today lots of love back to you ππ
She shouldnβt have the other much larger dog either as she neglects her dogs and keeps them on a small patio. No wonder the poor thing turned on Stanley. It must be totally frustrated. Report her. It is confidential.
I do hope that Stanley is better soon. Twinkle sends healing hugs.x
I hope stanley improves very soon, I'm sure he will with love and care he receives from you. Have a good night love and hugs for Stanley. Take care.π Bernadette and Jack π xxxx
Awww thankyou Bernadette and Jack that's really kind of you two .. I'm really hoping so he seems brighter than he was earlier so hopefully a few days crate rest and he will be able to get over this ..π§‘π§‘πΎπΎπΏ
Oh Huff thankyou I must admit I was and still am a bit broken by it .. but I'm sure he will be fine in the morning hes looking at me from his crate wagging his wiggly bum at me .. ππ§‘
Oh my goodness poor Stanley, Iβm so pleased heβs with you and getting the care he needs. He must think heβs in Valhalla with fresh cooked food and loads of love.
Sending huge cyber hugs to you both and hope you have a good night.
Like sassy59 if I said what I thought about his previous owner I would be arrested!
I'm pleased hes here also hes had a fairly good night sleepless for me lol ... just had his breakfast with first part of medications and had a walk to the corner and back π§‘π
Poor Stanley, good job he's with you now. Hope he feels better soon and I'm sure he'll have a wonderful life with you, lots of love and attention and lots of lovely long walks. We have a rescue dog, not sure of his background but don't think he was mistreated, thank goodness.
Illawarra thankyou hes a bit brighter this morning had breakfast meds a quick walk round the green and back on crate rest with a puzzle we have the vets at 11 again for a temperature check ππ§‘
I had a cat once who was always getting infected puncture wound .....he was small, great with people , but would fight any animal that was around. He once stalked a horse!
As you say, there is often not much sign...maybe a bit of swelling before release.
Your dog is in excellent hands.....sending best wishes.
Thank goodness there are people like you to take these poor neglected babies in I had to rehome my three twelve months ago when my husband passed away suddenly as I couldn't cope with them it broke m heart and I still cry every time I think about them which is often
So sorry to read this. I have become a Stan-fan and hate to think of what he had, and evidently still is going through. The very best wishes to you all, and i would have ranted as well.
I'm his number one fan of stan the man..I'm keeping him safe though hes feeling sorry for himself as hes on crate rest for the day ..but with short walks every 2 hours just to the corner and back ππ§‘
I hope Stanley is better soon. Poor boy. I'm sure he'll improve wonderfully in your care and love you to bits. ((Hugs)) to Stanley. Our charge (Molly lab) has gone home now. Last walk together yesterday . Strange not to come down to a dog in the morning. x Anita
Good for you telling her. Itβs a disgrace dogs need exercise and walking is very good for us so very good for the dog. Glad you had the sense to take the dog to the vet a,dog canβt tell, you what is wrong with them but at least you saw the signs and phoned the vet for an appointment. Heβs got a good loving family who will take him for walks etc. Enjoy him.
Why do people have a dog if they can't look after it properly? It saddens and exasperates me. I love animals and they just keep giving. They just don't deserve some of their owners. I loved reading your post blackbird because it shows how much you care. I have no doubt this this little chap has found a wonderful home and owner. Let us know how he gets on.
And thank you for your kindness it lifts my spirits so much.
As I said before Stan is lucky to have found you. I hope he makes a quick recovery and thereβs no more nasty shocks awaiting. Littlepom is correct this person needs reporting. Their neglect is awful and makes my blood boil.
Poor furbaby, I hope he makes a quick recovery. I hope you have his ex-owner a right telling off. What a cheek saying you had a probably been walking him to much. If she had cared for him properly, he wouldn't have matted hair and you would have seen the wound earlier. Stanley's ex-owner ought to be ashamed of herself. Thank God he has you now to take care of him. πΆβ€πΆ
He's in the best place possible now, so hope he recovers quickly to enjoy his wonderful new home where he will be cared for and loved to the max. Hope all else good with you Blackbird x
So grateful for people like you! Reading all of the replies makes me know the world has so many people who care about each other and the furry beings we live with. Thank you!
Thankyou ever so much cant sum up in words everyone's kindness its lovley to know that everyone is rooting for this old man who acts like a 4 year old π
Sounds like you are really taking care of Stanley and giving him tge love and care he deserves. You have the right to rant and hope itβs helped. I had to take one of my yorkies to the vet today for an ear infection and I hate it when they are under the weather
