Has anyone experienced having a malignant colon mass after being treated for Lung Cancer? My father had upper right lung lobectomy in 2017 and finished chemotherapy, now he has a colon mass, his gastro doctor said he needs to undergo chemotherapy first to make the tumor smaller then will proceed to surgery. I am confused. Worried. What if it will grow more...

Colon Mass Secondary to Lung Cancer
I have lung cancer, in remission from radiotherapy. A PET scan in August revealed a "Slightly prominent bile related focus of activity is noted, likely polyp/adenoma", with a referral for colonoscopy.
The first thing I did was to look this up as a possible secondary lung cancer to the bowels, to no avail. The only link I could find was for the other way around, a secondary bowel cancer to the lungs.
I am sorry that I am unable to help further. I am still waiting for the colonoscopy and have not had a consultant's appointment to ask more about it, yet.
So sorry to hear about your father. With the suggested treatment ie chemo to shrink the tumor so that surgery can then be carried out and hopefully reducing any risk of it growing more or regrowing.
Wishing your father good results pending his ongoing treatment and surgery.
I don't know if there is a link between lung and colon cancer other than what 2greys said but I know of someone currently undergoing chemo for a bowel tumour prior to surgery to remove it. The chemo is intended to shrink the tumour so that the surgery will be easier to perform. It is my understanding that the tumour won't continue to grow during the chemo.
((((Hugs)))) for you and wishing your Father's treatment will enable the cancer to be removed without further problems.
